Brand new with gold pickup covers, used for less than 15 days. Came factory installed on a MIJ ESP Les Paul. Swapping them out for something more vintage sounding. These are great for anything rock or metal oriented. Expecting 5.5K each for them, would prefer to sell them together. PM me if interested.
Oh i would love to see the single coil versions of both.. Kindly send me some link where i can see that..
If you would have read the post carefully before posting, you would have read that these are the gold pickup cover versions. The rates for the black pickups without covers and the gold covered versions differ by around $20-25 each even in the US. Just as a note, please see the price Bajaao is charging for nickel pickup covers. https://www.bajaao.com/seymour-duncan-nickel-cover-humbucker-pickups-p-6410.html Plus the tone is different (nickel is magnetic). These are humbuckers, btw. Used by Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth among others.
just bought a set a couple of days ago to upgrade my RG with, but uncovered. love the JB, have one in the bridge of my 7. articulate and well-defined. my aim is versatility on this guitar; i'm probably going the fralin split coil + P90 route on my next guitar (strat). if i ever get an LP, it's WCR, wolfetones or BKP fo sho but that's at least 5 years away.
Also give Highorder a try. Completely customisable, down to the DC resistance of the coil, assymetric coils, the works. Still not very well known but up there with Lollar and Suhr. The WCR price range is a little too crazy for me. https://www.highorderpickups.com/
yeah, the WCR prices made my jaw drop to the ground. "HOW much?!" the higher orders sound sweet as hell. not looking for buckers for a while though. shortlisted these for the strat: https://www.fralinpickups.com/stratstyleSB.asp as well as https://www.fralinpickups.com/stratstyleSP43.asp for the bridge position. probably the "blues" output on the splits.
Nice. Fralins are pretty much the go-to for singles, I guess. I personally love the Suhr F-Ls. If Erisa can get around to making me a headless Teuffel Niwa copy (I've been pestering him with several plans lately), that's what I'm going to get!
ahahhahahah! we are on the same page, pretty much. what i'm lusting after is getting something close to the tesla tone in a strat body, and yes, erisa is going to be my luthier of choice too. there's one major difference - you're clearly a player, i'm just a collector and nerd. i don't actually play much these days, but i do want better guitars to test the quality of the amps i build better. think i'm going to have to start ditching local trannies and buying only the better stuff, magnetic comps, heyboer, toneslut etc. soon. mercury mags are retardedly expensive, not heading in that direction yet. would you mind sharing those plans, if you have any? i'm not really looking for the niwa - i've played the tesla and birdfish and while both floored me, the tesla is the one i really want (someday, someday.) but i'd be interested in the plans nonetheless. i discussed the tesla with erisa and he says a lot of the tightness of the tone can be attributed to the neck joint construction. i'm wondering if he can achieve that on the strat. interesting fact about the teuffel pups - the single coils follow a split blade design with angled blades that overlap each other, which is why i decided to look at the fralins. at $100 per pickup, they aren't exactly a steal, but this is a birthday present to myself next year, and a guitar i want to keep for life, so.... EDIT: about the suhr FLs - they're definitely the liveliest single coil pickups i've played till date. lots of spank, unparalleled dynamics and clarity even with high gain, and can get nice and jangly too. check out my soundlick page for some clips of a FL equipped MIM strat through a couple of my DIY amps and stuff. https://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=1046495 do make sure you get a RW middle pickup or the BPSCC - they aren't particularly noisy, but this one had a mid pickup wound in phase with the others, so no humbucking effect in positions 2 and 4. i don't like SC hum much.
Didn't you find the Tesla to sound like a supercharged Strat in the first place? The extra bass comes from the extended upper bout, which I'm assuming you won't be able to replicate in a Strat shape imho. I loved the clips btw, the amp sounds are really neat. You're in Bombay right? Let's catch up...I'll send you a PM. The primary idea I've been bouncing off Erisa is a hollowbody headless with a trem. I LOVE ES-335 sounds, but they're the world's worst balanced, least ergonomic designs. I thought about a PRS hollowbody equivalent for a while, but I think there just isn't enough air volume inside those designs to give a woody sound. The Canton design really floored me, perfect ergonomics, plus you can make it 3" thick without problems. The next problem was the trem..most trems make you route lots of wood, and it's not really hollow at that point, because the area under the pickups is solid. The only exception is cam-mounted trems like Kahler (sadly overpriced and don't sound very nice, plus not headless compatible) and the Steinberger R-Trem, which works with a compression spring. After the demise of MusicYo, you can't buy just the trems, so I'll have to buy a Steinberger Spirit, strip it of the trem and instal a JCustom fixed bridge on the Spirit (bonus- an excellent travel guitar). With the R-Trem, you're hollowing out space only behind the bridge. I'm stuck on pickup options on this one though- I want a versatile, low output axe that can also do Strat impressions. I thought of the Duncan P-Rails, but not completely sure yet. With the Niwa, I'm planning almost no changes from the basic design, except to make it headless- I think that Wangcaster headstock is hilarious. Will probably use the Strandberg trem. I'll definitely get a RW middle pickup...not going to bother with a BPSSC. @alpha1- yes, briefly back to try and sell the pickups, but stayed for some conversation! What're you upto?
