Planning to buy my first electric guitar after playing acoustic for so long....

I don't use much of distortion and play soft rock, hindi, some blues and soulful music...
    After going through the immense literature available in this community on buying a new guitar finally am bending towards these two;

    Yamaha Pacifica 012
    Roland cube 20x
I'm from Bangalore by the way.
Any reply or suggestion is welcome..

Should work, though try getting the Pacifica 112 if you can. Telling us your budget would be better.

Btw, did you actually read the Guide? o.o
If not, there are more options for you there.

    012 0r 112j

    thanks all for the replies....

Had called Yamaha store today... 012 pac is at 9990 and 112j is at 15000...
My question is ,... is there a real difference .... in terms of sound... is 112j worth 5 k more?

Also , I don't want Ibanez and I really like the Roland cube 20x because of its reverb so no point going for 15x I think.

@ Tushar - Had played Givson acoustic as well as electric.........By my experience .... Givson can sound great if you replace everything except the logo. :)

The 112J/XJ defo sound better than 012... Whether the difference is worth 5k more is for you to decide.

Also I found that Greg Bennett Avion AV3 is for 16 k .....
Now I really like the way Les Paul type Looks.... don't know about the sound....
Which would suit my type of music (clean guitar, classic soft rock, no hard metal) --
The Yamaha 112J or the Avion AV3 ?
Is there any thread which compares the two?

If Avion AV3 is worth the price then I'll take it.!

AV3 is a nice guitar, I'd say worth the price. But once you've ruled it down to a couple of guitars, the next step is to try out the guitars in the store and take the one which sounds and feels better to you after playing it.

Among the differences are Trem in Pac 112 vs hardtail in AV3, SSH in Pac112 vs HH in AV3. They sound different - you will have a personal preference after you play both.

I'll go out on a limb here and say you might prefer the sound of single coils for some of the music you want to play.

    +1 to that.

Go for the pacifica 112J, you won't regret it.

And if you can stretch your budget a little bit further, do check out the pacifica 112V.

Both the above guitars, for the music you want to play, will satisfy you enough till you are ready to move on to the next level of guitars.

But don't just take my word for it, go to a shop and try em all out to see for yourself.

    Cheers.

Thanks the 100th one and gamebore,

Planning to go to the Yamaha store this monday in Bangalore. Will also check out in Aruna and others....
Really, we don't have as good stores here in Bangalore as in Mumbai.

    @guitardoctor

Thats in the US website... but look at Yamaha India... it still says agathis on 112j
    check out
    yamahamusicindia(dot)com

I guess i'll only know after going to the store......
and how important is the wood on the guitar body for the sound... agathis or alder..

The website is a bit self-contradictory on the body material https://tinyurl.com/3x6yrz6

Anyway you'll go to the store and listen and find out yourself, so it doesn't matter.

Agathis vs Alder: Agathis sounds dead to many (myself included).

And what about the amp guys. I want the best amp in around 10 k.
Distortion is not a priority but the sound should be good.
    Reverb is a must.
Assuming I'm buying the Pacifica 112j.
Bending towards Roland 20x.... Reynolds in Bangalore said 9k for the same.
But howz line 6 and the others...
Should I even bother to try out Marshall or Stranger?

    Read the Guide.

    Dream on >_>

Typical guitar cheapskate retards of India. Save up or get lost. It's for people like you I had to compile the Guide.

...I feel like nuking the Givson factory and personally going ninja on everyone who had anything to do with that company. Hope Grason, Java and HMI get the hint from there on.

Read this thread, Tushar. You are not alone.
