I wanna know everything you guys know about guitar rig 4.
    How to use it?
How to connect the guitar to use it?
Is using a foot controller mandatory?
and so on and so forth...

    Just tell everything you know.

Fawk you. You have an interface and still haven't used it?!

Just plug your guitar into the interface, download the thing (demo or you-know-where), route the audio and get going. That's all you need. Not much of a learning curve (though YMMV as I have a way with computers).

I'm loving it.. especially the dimebag and steve vai's presets are awesome.. some presets are bassy... i'm yet to tweek it for a desired sound.. last night i used just the presets but i think it can get me any tone possible..I used to think it'll be like just another amp simulator which sucks big time.. but this is amazing.. having an interface is advantageous for using GR4 ... i'm waiting to go home and hit the guitar straightaway.. :)

    And thanks for the Links..

And that's exactly why I'm j34l0us of ye, having an interface. :p:

Any time. I was interested in this a while back...but this kind of setup needs a lot of cash if you want to use it live (you definitely need a rack; on a minimum - rack power conditioner, a really good rack pc in which you don't put anything else, rack tube poweramp, and then a full range powered speaker(s)). But lots of possibilities ^^

Its very hard to tweak GR to get good tones. An amp + cab on an empty rack just sounds dull.

^ Here are some samples.. which sounded pretty decent to me considering its just a software.. Very good indeed.. Much better than my expectations..

"Its just a software" is an insult. Software modeling is as good as the modeling on processors. Even processors use softwares.

    but not the analog pedals...

    Pedals are different from modellers.

not really. just a laptop and an interface. a midi footswitch/GR controller if you really need it. a DI box would be useful - one output to the FOH mixer, one to your monitor. the only thing you REALLY need is to figure out your patches before the gig.

everything else is just an embellishment.

Rack PC because IDK if a regular Windows laptop cuts it on the reliability front.
Tube poweramp because a lot of people prefer one in front of their Axe-FXs etc.
Speaker - Wasn't having your own speakers mic'd to PA better than line in to PA?

    Could be wrong, of course.

If you still intend to mic your cab -- to get a more natural speaker distortion or whatever -- a power amp would be needed. But that defeats the purpose of software modeling -- the convenience. If you were looking just to get a great tone you could go all tube for a lesser cost.

Try asking here till flood/hundredth/ambush/gamebore/others come around -
    https://www.guitarampmodeling.com/

    Or even sevenstring.org.

In other circumstances, I'd have said 'take it to F20', but since it's gone... -.-'

hard to tell sitting right here. perhaps something in your interface settings?

have you enabled the right input?

it's usually a minor overlooked thing.

I am getting raw output from the interface but i need processed output. Since the input is not detected there's no data for processing. Interface hardly have any settings.. its just plug and play..
I read somewhere that the direct monitoring might be on.. is there any such setting in Guitar Rig 4?
