...which should be -needing only clean sounds (no distortion) -able to stir crowds, get them singing or tapping feet along, aka commercially viable. What all genres can that enclose? Please discuss. Thanks.
@rickkkyrich - Too technically complex. ...</sarcasm> : @guitardoctor - Yeah, good addition. @thehundredthone - Can you give me some example of what kind of a-capella you mean? And gospel rock - don't you think people will just walk off? So far I've thought of Country - Nice, but I think people can only listen to it in a limit. Jazz - Even if we may have a niche audience for this, this is out of the options for now. Bollywood - though TBH this uses such a huge variety of sounds, it can be hard if you want to do an accurate cover (instead of just playing the chords), but it fits the bill. Hindi bands and fusion stuff (Euphoria, Fuzon, Silk Route, etc) - Bollywood tastes, with a somewhat more toned down sound palette. And it's popular. Folk/folk rock (Eagles @_@) Singer-songwriter genre (tbh I don't understand the difference between this and folk -.-') I think we've plenty of clean genres in English, but masses here will prolly prefer stuff that's in Hindi... I think I should rephrase my question. What kind of thing* will be 'in-demand' in pubs, restaurants, hotels and the like? *Never mind the 'no distorted guitar' filter. Maybe I'll get another guy to do distortion if needed. Or maybe I'll just distorted stuff in cleans. W/e.
since u're in delhi.. the junta there is more interested in bollywood stuff and some Indi-pop or Indi-rock stuff.. and is it gonna be instrumental by any chance? coz i wudn't recommend that at all.. addition: You can never know wat a drunk man wants since everyone has different demands.. forget about wat people wants rather try to do wat u can do best..
I think 100th was joking... Isn't capella a bunch of guys singing without instruments? Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMo_boi1Yw0 Also, when I said folk rock, the artist uppermost in my mind was Neil Young and his bands (CSNY, Crazy Horse etc) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPL9MQHfIx8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0t0EW6z8a0
Doctor, yeah, I know the standard definition of a-capella, but I think he meant something specific. Btw, nice, no, EXCELLENT example. xD (that sound of three-four guys going 'oooo' in 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' has some special quality about it...) Folk...I mainly thought Nick Drake, lol. I don't know how that first one qualifies as folk...second one is more like it. Well, I got some artist recommendations, so thanks B) @rickkky - True, that. No, I wouldn't dare do instrumental (except for some special stuff I plan to give to special (intelligent) audiences).
Most folks won't have a clue what it is. Those who do, will probably know how cliche it is. And you probably mean Canon Rock, not Canon xD Nah, Bollywood and other Hindi stuff is perfect for the restaurants and public places, I guess...What will be interesting to see is when the audiences get tired of the whole thing (which has been done for ages before me, I think), and just what they'll want from there onwards. I'd sure love to play jazz and classical at some nice and intelligently populated cafe, once I'm really really good with them...
I feel that in India, the easiest way to be "in-demand" is to sell out to the max and you'll be popular as anything... Check these faggots out... They were finalists in "India's Got Talent"... What a joke, a crotch-grabbing stereotypical wigger, the shittiest, most generic music possible and plagiarism in the name of "tribute". Way to go. They even got a deal with Salman Khan for writing an album for his movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOIPPBwkFKI
Rickkky -> Best version of Canon Rock And here's the real Canon. The cool thing about this piece is that it's just one long melody. The whole composition is simply that one long melody, but it's layered over by the 3 violins at different points of time. All three (violins) are playing the exact same thing, only starting off at different points of time. How effing cool is that. Unique stuff related to this -> Pachelbel Rant @Doctor -
ur best version is a messed up version and thats not the real canon. it was done way back in 1600 somethin.. i have an audio for that but i donno if its original or not but it really sounds original. But the last video is really good !!!
Dude, I sincerely hope yer jokin'. Canon in D is a composition. Not a recording. Compositions are played by players. Like those in the video. Listen to the video while seeing the sheet, you'll be assured it's the same. :RollLol: Edit - Here's more musical madhattery for you. A line of music which you can play forward, backward, play the forward and backward bits together, and so on...and it'll make perfect musical sense each time. Crab canon.
There are good compositions in bollywood, I've heard songs with great instrumental melodies and harmonies. Sure they're few and far in between but the music has come a long way from the excruciatingly painful string ensembles on their synthesisers. Just that a major part of it is now wannabe club/hip-hop bullshit.
