In the key of F major...if Bb D F is IV, what is Eb G Bb?

    Thanks.

Chords in the key of F major
    F - F A C
    Gm - G Bb D
    Am - A C E
    Bb - Bb D F
    C - C G E
    Dm - D F A
    Edim - E G Bb

So there isn't any Eb G Bb triad in the key. All the chords of a key are created using the notes of the corresponding scale.

Unless it's a three note voicing of a IIadd6, in this case Gm-add6 with the 5th left out?

    Hey thehundredthone o.o

I thought the key was F major but *two seconds later* I figured it was actually Bb major. So the song does not (weirdly) start on the IV, it starts on the I, Eb G Bb is the IV, FACE(natural) is the V7, etc...

Thanks man, and sorry, really epic phail. -.-'

a simple method to knw d key or notes of major scale or chord is 1st remember dis
"NOTE NOTE SEMI-NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE SEMI-NOTE""
dese r step counts NOTES means a complete jump(2 frets in guitar)eg- C to D n seminote means half jump C-C#
so in a Cmajor scale or chord the key notes are-
    D E F G A B C
note dat C to D counts 1 NOTE similarly D-E counts 1 NOTE and E-F 1 semi-NOTE cause their is no E# d progresstion goes with same technique

ok here u r asking Bb=A#(i think u knw dis)
    key notes= C D D# F G A A#
so u can c ven finguring Bbmaj as in a shape of Amaj on 3rd fret(bar finger never counts here) u r fingering F A# D
As 4 as minor scale d technique pattern is diff which i dnt remember exactly
no matter in which way u r playing d chord via using capo or anything ur key notes will b same

He's not talking about the notes or chord formation. He's talking about the chords in a given key.

Btw, you switched T and N.
    Tone-Tone-Semitone :RollLol:
(jk I got what you were saying, but thehundredthone is right, and I know scale construction from...3 years?)

yeah actually i took notes instead of tone to understand in my way
chords in the given key is actually d same thing since none of major choRds will have same key pattern thus by knwing d pattern of d key u can figure out d chord n vice-versa
