Because Delhi shines with the Commonwealth Games preparations?

    Yeah right :|
(and if that's sarcasm, sorry, doesn't always transmit on the Internet.)
We've got MGMH though...but even then. We sure could do with a nice performance place, though. And one with a decent PA and sound guy, for once xD

Doesn't make sense to have a nice performance place when you don't have nice listeners. The incessant chant of BC MC, such is the charm of the Delhi audience.

^ very very true... all they know is punjabi pop/bhangra and some tharki movie songs like the recent munni.. :p.. Very few actually like good music..
but still we have some really good bands from delhi.. Undying Inc for example... they're are awesome..

I think it might be a supply demand thing.

One of the first songs I heard after coming to Delhi was Amplifier. And I've heard it every day even since.

I strongly disagree. Delhi is a mixed bag, a little of everything. What bands here need is a platform, a regular competition or something of sorts, which is WELL PUBLICIZED.
(people are suckers for events with over-blown advertisements. Right now, you have to go to Indiecision.com to know most accurately just what events are going on, and hardly anyone knows that site xD). And that event better have a good sound system and sound guy, and decent sound checks earlier, we're set. No matter how rubbish/un-innovative the bands are, as long as there's the event, sooner or later one will come along to grab the limelight.

Of course Delhi is a mixed bag. Bombay has it's fair share of nitwits as does Calcutta. What I wonder is whether there are more people who are willing to pay to hang out at this place in Bombay than in Delhi. For example, Calcutta does not usually have too many famous bands coming to play there yet it has a very strong music culture (if that's even the word). They just don't have enough people who are willing to pay so much to listen to the bands in person (even though they probably have their discographies downloaded off the internet). Then again, John McLaughlin and Shakti and Wayne Shorter and Charlie Parker have played to packed crowds which is usually an older and slightly aristocratic audience.

@ricky: haha, it's more an economics thing and I've been fascinated by the concept for a long time so not really an mba thing.

for the lulz, of course, like everything else that is in existence.

haven't seen B69 (and don't think i will, seeing that it's mostly filled with metalheads) but NOC could be a real bitch if the AC conked off.

btw., i had a "WHY DELHI and WHY NOT MUMBAI" experience just 10 minutes ago. seems the prodigy is playing delhi and bangalore. i'm going to travel for that gig. don't want to miss the prodigy, come helll or high water.

    alpha1 I BLUES!

    Lets accept one simple thing.
Bombay is the Indian equivalent of New York (in ways more than just a few).

I am sure no on in Washington DC cribs about why New York is the most happening place, whereas why DC aint.

    they're just super-badass enough on mp3....

The Prodigy in Bangalore? This I gotta see.

@alpha1: Despite everything, all the good acts will almost always come to Bangalore over any other city.
