That's definite country music we're talking about. . . . .So what happened to your fascination with the blues? Any progress with that?
That is still in progress... Enjoying it a lot! Not that good or anything but no longer a bare bones beginner, I can improv something I'm not ashamed of.
It's pretty good, in fact. Watched it a couple of years ago... Give it a dekko if you like that sort of thing. the guy who made it is known for making good stuff, he also made Samurai Champloo.
Haha Doc, I don't watch much anime now, not much time, but thanks xD Which reminds me - https://www.mangafox.com/manga/devil_and_devil/ Also, Naruto manga, anyone? (I remember I used to be crazy over it in 1st year when I was newly-infatuated with pen and ink, Naruto really had some great pen rendering which had me dazed; but they took it off MangaFox >_>) ALSO https://www.mangafox.com/manga/nodame_cantabile/ https://www.mangafox.com/manga/nodame_cantabile_opera_hen/ A manga about CLASSICAL MUSIC. Say what you will, this is what got me really interested in classical guitar and classical music (the lessons for which I had just begun a few months prior).
Exactly the same happened with my friend. The guy was just easing into learning guitar, then became a die hard fan of classical music after watching Nodame... Threw away his guitar, bought a keyboard and started learning piano from scratch... The guy is always showing me some concerto or something I don't watch much anime anymore, but bebop is a classic... When I'm bored, I can watch it again, and it's still fun.
....i didn't think country music could get worse, but it does. something i just remembered - about 4-5 years ago, my musical horizons were expanded for the worse while working on projects in the college workshop. the custodian and machine operator (students were not allowed to touch the power tools, like bandsaws, circular saws etc., which was possibly a good thing considering you could buy education-subsidized beer in the canteen and drink on premises at any given time. europe >>> USA) had the radio on all the time, and it was always tuned into the "schlager" music channel. "schlag" means hit or beat, it was a very literal translation of the english word "hits". schlagermusik refers to GERMAN pop, not international hits. the brand of schlager on this channel was volkstümliche musik. so - unfortunately - no beyonce or justin timberlake, but i suffered a fate far, far worse... check out the following songs to get an idea of what it was like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1N3U4OGC4w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NErNvVJEjys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBU8vCpkt-g this was barely a surprise, since i'd been living in germany for 5 years at that point and had had my moment of disillusionment well before that, when i realised that the country that produced can, kraftwerk and einstürzende neubauten (one of my top 5 bands, i'd gladly trade dream theater's or even metallica's souls if these guys could go back in time and make another plethora of brilliant albums) has crap to offer musically 98% of the time. BUT - it gets worse - every now and then, they would play a german country song. cowboy music with german lyrics. talking about being a cowboy and the great plains and pastures you only see in... montana. at that moment, i realised that regardless of what, you can ALWAYS sink lower. the horror, the horror! ja, please enjoy you zis magicful songs now... ve vill return after ze werbung. Ann you remember please out zere in ze prairie of thüringen near autobahn A4 to berlin, zem cattle crossin's are dangerous. for old fashioned german cowboy ve haff wisdom: Never there was pferd who could not be rode, never kuhboy who not can be thrown. bis gleich! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGmpOpuYkl8&feature=related (trans: i am a real country boy) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFl1EOEw4uc&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SeNWGzfbLI&feature=related i'm only listening to 20-30 seconds at a time, puke is hard to get out of keyboards. now all that's left is that you become a mean chik'n picker and talk about the great plains of... gurgaon. of runnin' them cattle across the vales of khanna. jes you, a hickory stick, a campfire and this here geetar. go for it.
Okay, those songs give me the impression of being straight out of some kind of nursery teaching audiotapes, but other than that, they're not really 'bad' per se...weird instrumentation maybe (my preference for country - if someone put me at gunpoint to do it - would be an acoustic guitar, a violin/harmonica/accordion, a double bass or cello or something, and a mandolin/banjo)... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montana_(disambiguation) But there's no Montana in Germany?! O_O H4lp. Kinda reminds me of the Indian metal scene if we dig into the lyrics and the writers' backgrounds. (Thank God I play instrumental stuff )
not bad?! they're horrible! some of the worst music i've heard. i'd rather listen to.... rihanna or worse still... lady gaga... or even worse... death metal! and yeah, zero cultural context, totally contrived. like say... kharghar black metal, talking about church burnings in new bombay and shit.
Blame it on the 4ths bassline (yeah, this is exactly how I remember the P4 interval. Country frigging music xD) Is country music really that bad though? Has anyone seen this film called Wild Hogs? Or this artist called John Denver or Nick Drake? (okay, Drake's 'folk'. Touche.) @rickkkyrich - He just said to annoy you, I bet. But don't 'unleash the fockin fury', here's something for you - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rc9_U-RBSuk XDD
