Thanks for the posting!!. I might be mistaken but I think the original is in the key of F...so I just transpose all the entire chords from C -> F, Am-> Dm, G->C and there's a Bb thrown in somewhere...

G is not pa it is ga

P is pa.

Pehla Nasha piano notes

I am an illiterate in piano, but I understand tunes a bit. I must say that I got a bit confused by seeing the notation.

The first part shows the legend, where I see listings like s, r1, r2, g2, g3 .. etc. and then the notation starts at G G P P. There was no G or P in the legend list's left side.

Then I see a G at the right side. It is for p, or "pa". Now if I think G is "pa", then what is "P"?

Then somebody posts that G is ga and P is pa. Ahhh, .. I guessed so. now again confusion ... if G is ga, which ga is it? ga-2 or ga-3?

Then somebody said, original notation was something different, so it is advised to shift the notation accordingly.

Can I have a final notation on it which I can understand?

I just know the basic sa-re-ga-ma-pa-dha-ni keys, nothing else. Please help me from a layman's approach.

Few clarifications:

g or G as written in the song notes is 'ga' from sa-re-ga-ma scale...........i.e. 'E' in western notation......since the scale is in 'C'
The only difference is that 'g' written in caps means its the same 'g', but in a higher octave.

Same applies for the other notes.

All notes given with the song lyrics are those from the left hand side of the legend.

If a note is written just as g, or p instead of g1 or p1 or g2 or p2 etc, it means u play the basic 'ga' note from the sa-re-ga-ma scale...i.e. the corresponding note from the C-major scale in this case.

The notes how they've been written in the song /alongwith the notes from indian scale - corresponging notes from the C-Major scale are:

s/sa - C
r/re - D
g/ga - E
m/ma - F
p/pa - G
d/dha - A
n/ni - B
S/sa* - C* (Higher octave)
R/re* - D*
..
.
and so on.....

any note followed by 1/2/3 would basically mean komal/scale note/teevra note , i.e. Flat/scale note/sharp note.
g2 - ga komal
g3 - ga
Similarly, r1 - re komal
r2 - re
Note here that scale note has only 1 of either a sharp or a flat, for e.g. g2,g3 while some have p1,p2.
That's because no basic note can have both flat and sharp notes, i.e. You won't see g1,g2,g3 all in one place. Either the first will become r2 or third will become m1.
This is a layman's explanation, as simple as I could make it. Hope tis helps. Read the books for proper technical explanation.

1. Learn sheet music (so many online tutorials, and besides, so many schools in India teach it too).
2. Write/type it out on Sibelius/Finale/Guitar Pro.

All good. Learn from many sites, I'd say, - from what I can see at a glance, some are skipping over what others cover.

I can teach it too...I don't think any of them do it exactly the way I'd do it, but probably different strokes.
