johnny greenwood, ed o brien, thom yorke-radiohead (listen, if rolling stone can list people from the same band as on entry, so can i) john frusciante page hendrix mayer jonny marr george harrison jack white adam jones kevin shields scofield jonsi
John Williams. <- unbeatable, unstoppable, undefeatable. Stanley Jordan. Stefan Joubert. I'd say Adam Fulara and a few other tapping 'greats' (like Jim Wright and Daniel Schell here, or Kai Kurosawa here) but frankly speaking I don't like their playing that much. It all sounds dead, anemic and processed (Adam has a certain 'vitality' in his playing, but he makes too many slips >.> Nothing beats a classical guitarist, I guess.) While I've practically lost all interest in contemporary electric guitar, there's still Joe Satriani Tom Morello David Gilmour Jeff Beck Somewhere, there's also Tommy Emmanuel Charlie Byrd George van Eps Joe Pass Lenny Breau Jason Crawford (Look him up on YouTube) And my favorite "200 string" player (not an original joke) Glenn Gould.
Hank Marvin Mark Knopfler Eric Clapton Jeff Beck B B King Robert Cray Chet Atkins John Williams Santana David Gilmore Richard Bennett
