Hey guys. Please help. I want to buy my first electric guitar.
    1. My budget is around 12K for guitar. I'm confused between greg bennett av1 and yamaha pacifica 012. Please pour in your suggestions. I'm thinking of buying guitar on this saturday, so please help asap. (I can also think of buying fender squire stratocaster affinity series 13K arnd if it is better than the two guitars mentioned above)

    2. Also i need help from mumbai junta. From where i should buy these guitars. I have been to andheri west furtados and bandra bhargavas. They have limited stock.. if you like guitar they may not have the colors. Thinking of going to townside Furtados on saturday before buying.

    3. Apart from that i need to know from where i can buy cheap accessories. I asked in furtados, they said the electric guitar stand is for 1500 bucks. wtf.. i don't want to spend this much on accessories. So please suggest the stores from where i can buy cheap guitar accessories.

    4. which guitar tuner i should buy? cheap n best..

    5. Howz bajaao.com. I'm thinking of buying roland cube 15X from bajaa.com. As the price was more in bhargavas and furtados andheri was out of stock. Is it ok to buy from bajao. I never bought anything online.

    Reply ASAP :)

    1. Pacifica.
Don't hurry up with purchasing, take your time, don't buy it if you don't like the piece, and thoroughly try out different pieces of the same model. This should help you more.

    3. Accessories aren't cheap. And you get what you pay for, and that holds for practically everything. Pay cheap, expect cheap quality.

    4. Again. Cheap is NEVER the best. Cheap and functional, maybe, or cheap within x to y range, but never 'cheap and best'. Low end Korgs and locally made F Zones and the like should work for people like ye.

I think GB AV1 is good as well... in case u're goin for the pac for for 112 rather than 012..

The tone of the two guitars is quite different. If you've reduced it to just two options, go to the shop and play both guitars and pick up what sounds better... You're never too amateur to know what you like.

Personally I felt that the Pac012 had a little dead sounding tone... The Pac112J or Pac112XJ sound a lot better. The pac112 will add 3k to your budget though... In that range you should also look at an Avion Av3.

I own an AV1 and it's a great guitar for that budget, Nice warm tone with a lot of weight which really suits the sort of music I like to play...

Get to a store, try out both guitars, pick whichever sounds better to you.

Accessories: Yeah, they are expensive (I never could figure out why a shitty plastic capo cost eight hundred bucks at Furtados.) Shop around at different stores... There are many brands. I got offered a tuner for two thousand bucks at one store and six hundred bucks at another, so it varies like that.

EDIT: If you cannot afford a guitar tuner right now, use an online tuner or tuner software... It's not an essential...

    1. avi and pac012 both are good guitars to start off with. besides these two, you can try out cort x5, pretty decent fixed bridge. OR, try the ibanez grg170dx 2010 edition coming out this weekend, must be better than the older one.

    2. furtados for sure.

    3. 1500 but worth it. you MAY not get anything cheaper than this and better than this too.

    4. learn to tune. free for life!

    5. you should always buy it from local dealers.

i don't know but i heard it from a well-known instrument dealer in my town(he endorses THE roland and boss). i've purchased all my pedals from there only. he's really dependable. he said an improved version has been introduced and a fresh stock is coming exclusively from japan. i really wish for a better bridge.

I heard from some guy that the Indian Ocean guitarist plays a GRG170DX on some gigs... Any truth to this? Seemed like a load of crap to me...

uhhhhhhh, dude, the roland and the boss sell to practically everybody.

also, you can rest assured that lower end ibanez guitars are NOT manufactured in japan. my RG321MH is indonesian, i think. far as i know, japanese production is limited to the very high-end ibanez guitars.

    don't believe everything dealers say.

If you want to choose between 012 and av1, you're better off with the av1.

But if you can slighly increase your budget, i'd suggest you go for the pacifica 112J. Trust me as a beginner, it is a far better option, or another way to put it, better among the evils.

    Hope that helps. :)
