I've been playing a Squier Strat for quite some time now, but I've been considering buying a humbucker equipped guitar. I really like the Gibson ES 335 but it's WAY too expensive(even the EPiphone Dot is out of my budget). So I was wondering if Braganzas can make a copy for me(I know they make nice imitation Les Pauls for Rs.5000). Could they throw in a varitone switch as well? My budget is around Rs.15000.

I only play blues and 60s-70s rock.....

hey i have an old mid 80s washburn hb-35 - made in japan (these mij hb-35s are highly reviewed as very good quality es-335 clone). tobacco burst finish. it is great guitar with a slim neck and powerful humbuckers which literally sings. there is fret wear in the first three frets (doesn't affect playability in anyway) - but a fret levelling could take care of it. i bought it for like $500 in the usa couple of years back - but i will let you have it for 16k. i am in bangalore.

damn, i really wanted your washburn, but already have 5 different guitars at home and absolutely cannot get another one right now. still have to save up for my strat (erisa custom made awesomeness) and would really like a jazzmaster at some point.

    bump on a good deal.

oooooohhhh. Im ultra interested in your hb35. Can you put up pictures? also more details please(neck shape and radius, coil tapped or not, what kind of bridge? also the condition of the neck(straight or not)), please please tell me theres no flame!
@flood- at one point i was torn up about which guitar to get, an 80' tobacco burst 335, one of these jazzmasters
    wildwoodguitars.com/electrics/fender/avts/62jazzmaster/index.php
    (most likely fiesta red)
or then a CS 60's strat.
ended up with the strat, but on some days i really wonder how it would have been....
the only thing about these particular jazzmasters is the necks are modern C shaped, which i really dont like, prefer the 60's C shapes so much more.

pls check this thread : https://indianguitartabs.com/showthread.php?t=41536

i posted a pic on that.

neck shape is similar to a gibson slim taper - but imo much more comfortable - actually the best neck i have played on. not sure about the radius. it is NOT coil tapped. bridge is tuneomatic. neck is straight.

yeah, if i chance into a bit of extra money next year, i think an MIJ jazzmaster is definitely on my list. even considered the xaviere JM-likes, but dropped that because they use P90s and you apparently can't retrofit jazzmaster pickups without a lot of secondary problems. i'll probably go for MIJ... but next year looks unlikely, because i really really want a strat first.

    what strat do you have?

EDIT: this makes me desire a 335. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfRYGVWZilU&feature=related

p90 cavities are much deeper and smaller than a jazzmaster's - so you would need to reroute it if you want to put jm pickups in.

a popular mij jm is the dinosaur jr one - but i don't like the purple sparkle finish it come in.

i think now they have started releasing some reissues as well. but you got to change the pickups because japanese's jm pickups are apparently voiced like strat pickups and lack the traditional chime/jangle of jm pickups!

dang. MIA it is then. TGP/HC forums will cough up something, i'm sure.

yep yep, most people that get mij jazzmasters end up installing the avri pickups in (i think mascis also does that, so does kevin shields, though shields also changes/modifies the bridge for all his crazy tremolo work)
my strat is a custom shop 60's strat, in a nasty surf green.
this guy and his band make me want an es 335
    .youtube.com/watch?v=VmyYaqMMHH0&feature=player_embedded#
an es 335 into a very slightly overdriven vox amp!!

you can just replace the pickups with either mia ones or seymour duncan etc. jm pickups are cheaper than humbuckers etc.

that would still be atleast 25% cheaper than getting a mia jm.

ebay!(risky i know, but it was a good deal) It was a "floor/display model", and had a tiny dinge on the back of the headstock, thus was a tiny bit cheaper.
The rest of my rig- Tele Deluxe RI(MIM) and a squire strat.
pedals- analogman sunface, fuzz factory, big muff pi w tone wicker, keeley sd1, analogman sd1(silver mod), boss sd1, boss cs3, crybaby wah, behringer multi-fx(used mainly for pitch shift), ehx nano small stone, ehx cathedral, boss rv3, boss space echo, behringer digital delay, boss rc2, couple of toadworks true bypass loopers, voodo labs pedal power2 and a one spot.
amps- ac4tv, i have an ac 15 in the states but i dont think ill be able to get it back here

damn, that's one fine pedal collection indeed, and some raging GAS too. i'm guessing you're into shoegaze? i need to pick up a nice reverb and delay/looper myself.

on a side note, which SD-1 do you like the most of the three?

replied to your mail, btw. check it out. cheers.

also, i love the way we've totally derailed this fred and nobody cares.

thank you, GAS like you have no idea. into all kinds of music, post rock, a little shoegaze, love love love radiohead, chili peppers(pre stadium arcadium), beatles, zeppelin, some electronic, hip hop stuff.
the sd1s are different beasts, the original is really really low gain, especially with single coils, and really middy. I really prefer it with my tele deluxe, feels more compressed with the humbuckers. from what i understand, its essentially an 808 circuit but with asymmetric clipping.
the analogman is a similar kind of distortion, but not as not as many mids and some serious gain available. sustain for days type shit, almost muff like (just a slight exaggeration). so i guess, a really nice "classic rock" sound. also gain cranked and tone set brighter , it feels rat like to me( i dont know why im saying that, having played a rat 3 years ago, only for like 10 minutes)
the keeley is just something else. no remnants of the original pedal in there. more compressed than the other two. with the gain cranked and tone set a little darker, gets a little fuzzy (very slightly). has a nice "bitey" quality. to me the switch here is more high gain-low gain switch(less noticable tone difference than the symmetric-asymmetric switch on the analogman).
of the three i feel like i like the keeley, and the original a lot, but also between the three ive got most distortion/overdrive sounds covered. but saying that id like to switch from the keeley, to an death by audio interstellar overdriver at some point.

what kind of reverb are you looking to get. more spring like or massive halls. I personally having tried boss, holy grail, and the verbzilla, think the grail is the most realistic (the cathedral uses the same reverbs), though the original grail (i think theyve solved that with the nano)gets retardedly noisy. but the boss rv3 sounds really fake/glassy(the halls not bad though, and with the rv3 you have digital delay). not too impressed with the verbzilla( though modulated verb is fun).
you might be best off getting a dl4, i think it solves verb/delay/loop. but i dont know how it sounds. Im personally looking to get rid of the space echo and get a deluxe memory man/ earthquaker devices disaster transport(??? i think thats their delay), mainly for modulated delay. and then maybe at some point get rid of the behringer and maybe the rv3 and get a dd7.
