I am selling my beloved bass - Warwick Streamer LX4 (not rock bass, the real warwick) at eBay. It is one of the best basses ever made! nice bass. what are you moving on to? i'd be tempted if it wasn't way out of my budget and the fact that i'm specifically looking for a stingray, music man or a very good clone.
Thanks. I recently fell in love with classical guitar so I'm moving away from bass guitar (to preserve the long right hand nails). Just got a Ramirez 2CWE for some serious learning. I also have an old Fender Jazz Bass for those times when I would feel like playing the bass again (with a pick) though. I have tried the Music Man StingRay you mentioned. It felt like a one-trick pony (funk) but definitely a pretty good one at that!
the stingray rules for funk hands down. it's definitely not a versatile bass as such, and more suited towards modern styles (great rock bass too). i love the distinctive sound though - it's an aggressive bass, fat as hell. was leaning towards a jazz bass initially, but decided that the EBMM had the sound that i really wanted. the newer models have a coil split too, if i ever need it. it's an active bass, but that shouldn't be a problem with a tube preamp like the alembic f2b, which has ridiculous amounts of clean headroom. i love the jazz bass sound too though. my favorite bass tone (and bassist too) is tony levin, but i love the aggressive, upper-mid heavy sounds of geddy lee, justin chancellor, john entwistle etc. so it was really difficult deciding what i'd end up with. i'll use my cheapo no-name chinese 6 till next year and pick up a stingray then, i think. can'T afford your warwick sadly
