An Electirc guitar with looks and tone?

Hi guys, I'm looking for an electric guitar in India which looks stunning(preferrably because of it's unique shape, not just color/artwork etc.) and plays just as good.

My budget is around 20-30k. I'm taking a Marshal amp.(Most probably), please advice on this as well.

The companies I'm looking at right now are Ibanez, fender etc., But I either didnt find anything in my budget, or it was just not that good.

Oh, yeah, just incase you want to know, I'm going to play rock/metal songs.
One more thing, Could someone tell me the difference b/w guitars made in USA, Mexico, Japan, etc. and which one am I most likely to get?

Related Q if someone can answer it: Does any company sell Gibson Explorer clone guitars in India? If yes, anyone got an idea on the price range?

I think you people are getting the wrong picture.
I want a guitar which looks like anything except a strat. I mean, I don't want a 'unique' body design, like, made for me or anything, just something a bit more different than the standard shaped guitars(i.e. shaped like strats). I was looking more towards V shaped, star shaped, explorer, destroyer etc. kindda guitars.

I just wanted to know which ones can I get in India, and most probably in Mumbai.

One option is to check with Alberto Music; he makes custom guitars. For ur budget he will build you a guitar with good pickups like Dimarzio, Seymour Duncan, Bare Knuckle, or EMGs something which is hard to find in branded guitars in that price range. Since ur from Mumbai, you may want to visit Musician Expo which is from 3-5 June at Bombay Exhibition Center, Goregaon E.

Epiphone LP Special II also comes in a variety of colours (there's no fixed colour), all of which are pretty standard.

So if you want something looking different from the crowd, LP is a no-no...

I don't live in Mumbai, but I'm going to go abroad(singapore) within the next week, and I'm going though Mumbai, so my best chance is to get one(or atleast select one) in Mumbai. Luckily enough I'm going on 3rd June, Music Expo for me!

I do like the Idea about going to 'Alberto Music' but I don't have enough time in Mumbai..
I'l be there for less than 6 Hrs, so It'll be a quick trip to the shops/Expo, for me.

I already own a Givson, and for some reason, I don't really know the difference in Tone or anything.. Works fine for me. I guess a new one will change that opinion. And as I already have one guitar with that kind of shape, I wanted a guitar with a better look.

So, any ideas?
Also, can I get these 'other shape' guitars in shops like furtados and bhargava's music?

 

i can't believe nobody mentioned the parker fly. bhargava stocks the import versions of the fly, i think. https://www.parkerguitars.com/

alberto has a very limited range of very mediocre guitars IMO. they have a couple of good ones, but nothing THAT great.

bhargava's has surprised me of late by stocking some of the better gear in town - parker, genz benz and most recently, blade, which is probably a good alternative to fender mex. still need to go aand check out the blades they have in stock.

if you're looking for those fugly pointy guitar abominations... the metchulheads will probably be of more help. the other problem i have with most of them is that they suck tonewise - e.g. i find BC rich useless for anything except metchul.

I saw a guy play a guitar like that at some college rock fest... Was wondering if it was a custom or something... That headstock sure looks nice...

 

i've played the USA parkers. the USA parkers are mindblowing guitars, very expensive but seriously versatile, great sound, and play excellently.

haven't played the import parkers (P-series etc.), but judging from their price point, i daresay the should be better than fender mexico and on par with fender america. either that, or they have some audacity to charge $600+ for an import guitar.

Buy something while you are in Singapore.

I am considering that, but I wanted to decide a model, then check prices online, and then buy it in singapore(because they rip-off a lot of people, at times).

If I were to go there and then decide, then it would become very difficult for me, as I wouldn't know if the quoted price is wrong. Plus I wouldn't have anywhere to go if something broke/went wrong.

PS: Can you people suggest wether whammy bars are of any good use.. I've heard that you have to tune the guitars in every 4-5 months, because of the floyd bridges.. is this true?

 

Isn't tuning your guitar twice a year... well... Normal behavior? Don't be so lazy...

I retune my guitar every month or so, just to make sure my notes are true and none of the strings has lost its tuning... It's no big deal.

Floyd Rose bridges are a little difficult to tune though, and changing the strings is also an ordeal... If you're a beginner you might want to avoid them... Most people don't even use the tremolo bar. At the beginner level you'll probably have little use for it.

 

Well, I'm not really a beginner, but I guess i'm a bit new to Metal/Hard rock songs, Could you give me a link to a website where I can learn about some intermediate stuff in the Metal category.. ?

Anyway, By tuning I mean Tuning the springs and stufff, with the Bridge..(you probably meant this tuning, but just in case..), I do tune my strings every month, week, day, whenever necessary.. but I'm a bit scared that I'll mess up the bridge, so I don't try that a lot(did try it out once.. lol, had to go to a shop to get it fixed).

 

If you're not a beginner maybe a trem isn't that scary an idea... I went for a hardtail in my first electric because I didn't want to deal with this sort of stuff while I was learning the basics.
Just imagine yourself all excited about something new you want to try out... You pick up your guitar and bam! It's out of tune. You sit down to tune it and the damn thing just refuses to stay in tune. Half an hour later you manage to do it, but by now the thrill is gone. Now that's what's called a cock-block. A total mood killer. Must be stuff like this which kills people's motivation to learn guitar.
But if you're beyond the basics, it's a different game. You'll be better at the basics, pick up on stuff faster and understand the mechanics of the instrument. Probably won't be that much of a problem. I'd say definitely go for it if you're interested in that style of music...
