in case u have a processor u can put the out of proc to line in of ur laptop pc. and use a software for recording.. it can be audacity etc.
in my laptop line in is not working so i don have personal experience with this.

One way is to use the mic of ur laptop and record. but the sound will be messed up.

i am getting an USB interface for recording stuff which was suggested to me by flood. I think this should smoothen recording for me..

Depends on your budget, DethrO. A USB device like the M-Audio Fast Track MKII interface in rickkkyrich's sig would be a great device to start out. But if you can stretch your budget, see if you can get an ESI Juli@, which is a really capable sound card that can record at higher bit rates and has jacks for plugging in line level signals. It will also reduce the load on your CPU, though its always a good idea to up your specs when getting into recording... I think the Juli@ goes for around Rs 6-7k, but I'm not sure... FWIW, I think it's better than the M-Audio stuff and may have even won some awards, but again, I'm not sure.

Thanks for ur suggestions rikkkyrich & jimmy rage
wat is the price of M-audio fast track ????
and one more thing both of those device record and moniter in low latency?
becouse last time when i connected my guitar into the computer via line-in i was getting a good amount of latency which was very problemetic for me...

well i'm getting it from US for 99$
I think the interface will reduce the latency .. i'll be getting it this month end.. so cant comment much..

    ^He never mentioned a laptop...

A sound card would be a better option if you're worried about latency... Read up some reviews by people who have used either of the devices...

Dethr0, your options will depend on your budget... Plus, you can stretch your funds if you are able to acquire the interface from abroad...

I had actually looked at the ESI Juli@ as a serious contender when I was searching for a recording interface... There are a lot of M-Audio cards available on the market as well...

*Personally*, I think USB is the wrong way to go when recording, especially if your system specs are not too high... Latency has more to do with your computer's ability to first digitise a signal and then covert the digital signal that was entered into an analog system output over your speakers... I've heard that USB has bandwidth problems if you're trying to transfer a large amount of data seamlessly to your hard disk... Plus, with USB, your system speed will have a lot to do with how well your original signal is recorded on your PC and since you were having latency problems recording direct to your soundcard, it might not really benefit you...

That said, seeing how these things are selling like hotcakes, it might work for you and you should try to find out more before making a decision! Plus, if the USB device has outputs of its own, the latency might be minimal while recording, though again, it all boils down to how the signal is recorded to your hard disk, not just the sound you get when playing over the interface...

Interfaces which house external sound cards are a really good idea... There was a really cool EMU interface (I think it was called a 0202), which had two inputs and outputs and also acted as an external sound card... But you should really do some reading on the different options, then fix the maximum budget you can afford, do comparison shopping within your budget range and then take the plunge...

thnks for the suggestion but i think it will be a very costly setup ........
