I guess you mean how to stay in the rhythm while playing! Just tap your feet along with the rhythm. A tip, always tap your feet, doesn't matter you are playing along or just listening, it is a good lesson to feel the rhythm!
    Take care and good luck!

the same way when u tap ur feet...u ll get to listen the beats...i feel listening the beats is one of most important thing in any type of music...and if i can listen what others are playing while playing with me, i ll get a better grip of watever i want to do...most importantly the drummer(or a metronome) because this guy counts the music and we give a feel to it...i hope this answers ur que...

ya u're correct.. but i'm asking for example i'm playing master of puppets and duration of that song is 8:35.. when i'll try to play this song i might end it at around 8 min or maybe 9 min.. but not exactly 8:35 .. the variation can be even more..
so how do i keep correct timing in order to be in sync with the rest of the instruments?

    sorry for being too n00bish..

If u set the exact tempo and if u r in correct timing...then it gotta end on 8:35 :p...but dude, i think it doesnt work like that...for me, get the feeling of the song and then do ur own work around...i always try to do that, but most of the time what i do is a complete piece of shit... :D:p...but keep trying...
and this song particularly is a very hard thing to crack because the tempo is very high...u could try with a simple song...

Not even MetallicA plays their song at exact same tempo as the studio version - so why should you?

Play along with the other instruments. It's as simple as that.

Some people have better inborn sense of timing, some people are a little behind. To improve, practce with a metronome and record your playing. You could hear where your are going off time and try to improve.
