Hello friends. I have a friend currently in UK who will come back next month to India. I am thinking of getting my guitar and amp through him from there as it might be a bit cheaper (will get the confirmation on exact price in a day or two). I wanted to know if there are any pro or cons in getting my guitar through this method? Probably some hiccups at the customs? How to avoid it in case there is any? The biggest drawback i can think of is that i personally will not be able to check the guitar for any minor defects, if any. Also i am not sure about the warrenty issues. If god forbid something happens to guitar/amp, could i get it serviced at any authorized service centre here in India or will i have to send it back to the UK? Has anybody gone through this way to buy the guitar and amp? In case someone has, i would appreciate it if you could tell about your experience, good or bad.
Yamaha Pacifica 112J (unsure about the maple or rosewood fretboard-there's a considerable price difference). peavey vypyr 15 Watt amp.
Like i mentioned, it'll be a couple of days when i get solid quotes. To get an estimate, I checked euroguitar.com, ill save approximately 4k to 5k if i get it purchased from there. Again, it is still a rough estimate, it could still be a little bit plus minus, here and there. Any suggestions? Like i mentioned in the first post about my concerns, is it worth saving the 5k. Yes it is a decent enough big amount for me and would love to save it if i can, but not for a compromise on my concerns. Do suggest.
guitar is fine to get but are u sure ur friend is gonna carry the amp as well... i really doubt.. as u know there's weight limit and if he's carrying his stuff (which he must be) then it might exceed the weight limit.. in case it exceeds then u may end up paying even more than its worth...
Apart from the weight issue, is there any other issue i need to be worried about? The customs? The warrenty? Any other issue i might be missing on?
from my experience, gear in the uk was friggin expensive. almost on par with indian pricing. however, it is my understanding that musicground has gone bankrupt. so look for a local outlet and you might snag something at a good price if you're lucky.
