i tried the roland cube 20x today.I think u can get a pretty good punk rock tone from it,but i found it hard to control the distortion...mabbe coz im a beginner.
Still u cant go wrong with the cube ,its miles ahead of kustom in all aspects!! Give it a try.

Wowie... Someone needs to put this on the sign up page of IGT. Or at least flash it to any guy asking a "what gear" question.

If i am correct, the kostom is a flat voiced amp. Which means that its nota guitar amp. Which in turn means that any distortion pedal put in front of it would sound like crap. So dont bother with buying pedals. Processor is a different story. A good one might sound good even though a kostom.

Your best bet for tone is to get a amp like the roland. processors in the same price rang doesnt sound anywhere near as good. But they are a good option if you plan to play live. You cant have saved presets and have them recalled live on stage.

so if your priority is just tone, an amp is the better option. If you want the flexibility and convenience of the processor, then go for it by all means.

So how many people on this forum other than flood actually have this "common sense" as defined at UG? I know I don't, but I don't really feel stupid. Strange.

The next time you want someone to spend 1:1 or 2:1 on amp and guitar please make sure you've actually done the same. The earning demographic here is not very high.

This is practical advice. On a 5k budget, I'd rather let the guy have fun playing the guitar than make him wait a few more years to buy a "real amp". Because you know that the ones who are serious about guitar will not ask such questions here.
