    Hi Friends,

I am planning to buy a new Nylon Classical Guitar. Saw a few Yamaha C40s (approx 5.5k & 9.5k), at Furtados Goa, liked them. Wanted more info regarding it.

What are good quality? I havent used Nylon stringed earlier. Have started Western Classical Staff reading right now. Hence felt that would be a better option & also liked the sweet tone. I own a Signature Jumbo Acoustic, Ibanez GRG 270 Solid Electric.

My budget is aroud 6k & I dont require any pick ups for the classical guitar.
    Kindly help.

    Thanks.:help:

u mean 5.5K & 9.5 K? I guess the wood quality will be much better than the local Nylon Strings (and that matters a lot).. Low cost nylon string guitars use ply boards (mostly) instead of original wood, so that depresses the sound quality. Check the guitars out, I think you would be able to figure out the tonal quality improvements on the fly! If you really want the tone and don't feel spending more for the tone, go for it. IF you only prefer to get started and don't want the tone now, then you better go for a local guitar, or a Pluto Nylon string (if available). Pluto is quite awesome for it's price(and that'll be much lesser than your budget). It's up to you now... :)

Ya I meant 5.5 & 9.5k (have changed it). Yamaha is a good brand & I felt the tone good & soothing. I also saw few 2.5k models, less branded, but werent good. C40 was good. But had no more options to compare with. Will have to search Mumbai or Pune for a variety.

Go to Braganza (near mirza galib street), or Music Messey(Dharmatala), or Signature outlet (Kalighat)... If you need further details, reply here...

Arya, I havent checked in Kolkata. I have seen stores in Goa & Kolhapur only. Nothing much here. Planning for Pune & Mumbai now. Will let you know. As well my right hand nails are too tough to maintain with classical guitars. How do u maintain them?
