Hello, everyone and every guitar seller!

I want to buy a good quality classical guitar in Chennai. Good quality means look good, sound good and smell good. :)

Only one request: at least one part of the sound box (not finger board) must be Indian rose wood, that's what I came to India for. :) My last guitar is Mahogany, so this time I want something better.

Every brand is fine but YAMAHA is the worst to me.

Price is not the problem if the instrument is good. But as the title said, I don't need any bargain under RS 30,000.

If you got some nice guitars and would like to let me have a look, tell me where is your store and I will come to Chennai and maybe we can have a good deal. :)

    =o

@metalmickey - First I thought you were referring him to those solidbody modelling guitars! But the Variax 300 looks cool, feature-wise...heck it's even got a cutaway.

But I doubt he'd like it if he's a hardcore-classical guy. In that case, the best bet would be the custom shop. Or some online store/custom shop in some other country...

    Good luck.

Nandac, thank you very much, you are my one saving grace!!!!

That is what I want exactly!! Indian rosewood, hand made in India. Good price and better quality. I visited Arul few day ago, he is starting to make my guitar.

And Metalmicky, your suggestion is very helpful, too. Taylor is very nice and I know it, my friend has one. But as you know, Taylor is famous for the folk guitar and I can buy a American Taylor in everywhere of the world, I can just buy one in China or let my American friend buy one and send it to me, can't I?

BTW, I am Chinese, came to India one month ago. Glad to know you.

Yeah, though China makes a lot of guitar and some of them a very nice, but I think India is a better place to get a custom made.

Cost Rs.1,25,000, it's a typical Classical Guitar, that's what I want. Here is the material.
Back and Sides : Indian Rosewood
    Soundboard : Engleman Spruce
    Rosette : Custom wood/marquetry
    Bracing/Struts : Sitka Spruce.
    Neck : Spanish Cedar/Rosewood
    Head Plate : Indian Rosewood.
    Finger Board : Ebony
    Bridge : Indian Rosewood
Nut & Saddle & Tie Block : Camel Bone
Finish : French Polished Shellac (entire guitar)

Bigger than 30k, much so! =P

I can only hope to be of that level someday, to play a classical guitar of that price...*awe*

@TS - You could also try Takamine (Japanese company, and the 'mine' is pronounced as 'minnay')...it makes the best accoustics in the world, methinks.

from your specs, i'd say it's well worth it. arul definitely seems to know his stuff; it's a pity that all i hear about are tulsi & co. but have never seen this site, which is TRULY fantastic.

 this is ridiculous. you've touched a nerve.

...which is a lot more difficult to construct than a solidbody. the woods are imported and extremely expensive here. the know-how is limited and takes YEARS to put into practice. the tools are VERY ****ing expensive. what's your f***ing argument? that the dude is from bangalore so it should be cheaper? it doesn'T have dimarzios? shove it, really.

i would rather pay that money to a luthier in bangalore because i think it's definitely worth it as compared to a production line american. it pisses me off INCREDIBLY to hear the trash on forums and also in real life with regards to custom built stuff in india. i see NO reason whatsoever that a luthier or amp or effects (or anything for that matter) manufacturer who really gives a shit about a work should not be able to command prices at par with international custom shop pricing.

my personal experience - i dropped in to furtados once and got talking to a strapping young lad. i told him that i was more driven by sounds, effects and the technological aspects than the music itself, and i discussed a custom fuzz i'm making for a delhi based guitar player. so he asked me if i could build him a unique full-bore metal distortion pedal. i told him it wouldn't be a problem and it would simply take me some time. then we started dicussing features and aspects, and he was confused as hell about it so iasked him what his budget was and he goes "i basically want the cheapest good-quality metal pedal i can buy, less than 4k". i told him to **** off more or less (although i didn't put it quite that way), and that he should buy an MT-2 and be happy with it; that i've spent at least 8 months trying to perfect that fuzz and am still working on it, and that i'd charge him more than 12k for his metchul pedal. he was shocked; he's like "then why should i buy it from you" i'm like, i'm not asking you to, go buy a boss or a digitech. i was done with that conversation.

i refuse to undersell any further than i already am, compromise on my designs or quality. that attitude simply disgusts me; good work and dedication must be paid for, irrespective of where it's being done.

so play your ****ing gibtones, givsons and hobner ECOSTICS and neem/mango-wood electrics; you're getting your money's worth. close your eyes and imagine your stranger or kustom (or solid state marshall for that matter) is a roaring ken fischer-made trainwreck and be happy with it.

but don't steal the fire of people who are working their asses off, and have done so since before you went to ****ing kindergarten, to provide the end-user with a high-quality product. i refuse to - and have ever since i realised how shitty my furtados guitar was - buy givson/gibtone/kustom/stranger because i would be encouraging the manufacture of low-quality goods in india. support the indian custom builder and stop trying to lowball him.
