I need a price check on the following axes...(in New Delhi, India). I've checked out UG reviews for the prices, but they always turn out to be pricier in India. -Epiphone Les Paul Studio -Yamaha Pacifica 112V Also, I plan to upgrade my amp (lolMG10CD) after I get my guitar in a few months, mind's fixated on a tube amp. Which one would be a good+cheap solution for gigs? (A Laney perhaps? I play stuff like Opeth and Kamelot, also, old rock and neoclassical.)
Both should be around 15K mark. Regarding t00b amp - Hehe, unless you really plan on lugging your amps around (or prob you have roadies) ... There are few t00b amp makers in india: https://www.guruamplifiers.com/Roy on Guru.html https://www.be3amplifiers.com/ These would be much better for gigs than Laney maney etc.
Bravo sir alpha! It's awesome to know we get handmade tube amps here! I'll be sure to check these gods out first thing when I buy my amp =D Knowing that those two guitars are ~15k...relieving! angel had me shocked for a sec. One last...price check on Epiphone Les Paul Standard please (the UG forums say even Studios are pretty bad, so I'm considering the Standard.) Thanks! ^^ Edit - hundredth, Vox AC4TV? I initially wanted an Opeth tone, read that Mikael Akerfeldt uses Laneys...but it'll be a while till I can afford one of those mothers. Will look around for a cheaper tube amp in the beginning when I get around to buying them.
A friend of mine had got it from singapore a few years back for around 25k....so i though the price must hve risen..............
Calculating ($ x 50 = INR as a very rough and overestimated formula) from UG and Musician's Friend prices, Epi LP Standard could range from 20k to 30k (exact limits). Which is a huge-as-crazy range, really, unless someone has an idea around here on those?
If you do gigs, its better if you get a good processor like the X3 or maybe you could wait for the next generation PODs. Most PAs that we have in india are ahujas and they would suck out most of the tonal advantage from the tubes. Not to mention the stain of lugging it around and setting it up.
I thought processors sound...processed. But I also feel that changing the settings of every pedal (in case of single stomp boxes) for every song would be crazy (unless one just creates one signature tone and sticks to it)...Long tussle. Is it possible rule out the PA problem with a bigger speaker for the amp? o.o
The top end processors like the X3 sounds really great and i doubt if it will sound that different from a tube amp thru our PAs. And tubes are expensive. Is it possible rule out the PA problem with a bigger speaker for the amp? o.o I dont quite get what you are saying here. Are you saying would would use the amp for the audience without going to PA/mixer? That would work if its a small venue. You leave the drums unmiced and just use a small PA for the vocals. But i dont think you would find a lot of such venues in india, atlest any that would want metal. What you have are big venues like rock festivals and campus rock shows where you have large stages very lttle time to set up, bad PAs, sound guys who dont know how to do a good mix or give good minitor mix. When you are a reasonably well established band then you could afford to bring your own tube amp to the show. If you are a paid gig you can call the shots and take the time to set up. But even then it would be hard to use amps. The band could have shows all over the country and it is not very easy to lug them around in trains or what ever. That the reason why even professional band dont use them.
I get what you mean now...(sad about the fests, it's *quite* a genuine problem) Btw, X3 = Digitech GNX3, right? Thanks for the advice ^^
