What all the things should be buyed compulsorily while buying electric guitar???

What all needed to play an electric guitar.Tell the accessories needed to play it.Right now ,i know that i need an electric guitar first.wat else needed?I am novice in this...thx

Right, an amp. Or to revisit the play through pc thread, a usb interface (Bajaao.com sells 'em) and some software (Amplitube, Guitar Rig, Revalver, etc).

A good guitar cable. Pay the extra money for a nice one, as the cheapies will usually start shorting out after only a little while. Won't electrocute you but the signal will start going in and out with a lot of irritating noise, same as when your jackplate is poorly connected.

Get a bunch of picks. Dunlop is a good brand. I like the 50 mm (red) ones. You might prefer medium or thick, depending on your playing style. Bajaao offers bulk buys of these as well. Ernie Ball picks will do but are a little undersized and slippery. They're shiny whereas the Dunlops have a matte finish and are therefore easier to hang on to.

Get 2 or 3 spare sets of strings. I'd say Super Bullets, but am not sure if we can get them here in India. If not, Ernie Ball, gauge of your choice.
The reason you want Super Bullets is because they last much longer because of the way the tip terminates into a little steel "bullet". They're more durable than the spool wrapped strings, and also stay in tune better, particularly if you've got a non locking whammy bar (tremolo bridge).

Get a strap if you like to play standing up. A chair or stool with no arms if not.

A sturdy case.

Regular spray-on can of furniture polish and polishing cloth(s). Or a box of Kleenex.

Last but not least, some qualified instruction.

It's among the best instructional material around. For intermediate or advanced players it can initially be tedious (1'st lesson, "This is the E string. Now pluck the E string. Very good! This is the B string. It is next to the E string. Now pluck the B string. Very good!"), but it's a comprehensive learning package, well designed and put together, covers the fundamentals and builds on them, introduces player to different styles, reading music, and a ton of practical exercises.
Don't know if it's necessarily compulsive for electric guitar purchase, but I'd recommend it.

Also get a tuner if your amp already doesnt have one!!
It's basic requirement to stay in tune!

SO a checklist

1. Guitar

2. Good Case (Hardcase for good ones)

3. Cables (Decent ones)

4. Pics (personal preference, else take 2 of each)

5. Strings (ask for the same strings that are on your guitar it will save hell lot of time no having to do a re setup i.e if you like those strings)

6. Tuner

7. Strap

8. Microfibre Lint free cloth

as most of us get it later when we have the money for it!
which is not that bad an idea, still pretty bad!

 

Maxmetallica , if u want to follow the perseus way (the pc one), make sure you have a really good PC wid a REALLY good sound card or else ur gonna get some big pain .....
And about the strings, try out ROTOSOUND n buy plenty of plectrums ....the small triangle thingy ........ they are easy to loose

1 more thing, a small toolbox, specifically small phillips head and regular medium flat head screwdrivers. Needle nose pliers, good wire clipper (a fingernail clipper will do but won't last long). Soldering gun wouldn't hurt if you have any loose connections in the electronics or wanna play Dr. Frankenstein.

Tuners are handy if you have an amnesiatic ear. All you have to do is remember the exact pitch of one (count it, one) chord in your head to be able to tune a guitar accurately.
For practice and goofing around you might wanna tune down a half step to preserve strings.

Yes, you can use your laptop as an "amp" (with aforementioned usb interface and signal processing software advised), though you obviously can't go crazy with volume, unless you output the signal into a regular home stereo amp. Or even a regular guitar amp. If not you should have a reasonably robust set of external speakers. And hopefully more than a pentium 90 and 4 megs of ram.

The advantage of using software programs for modeling the signal is that you'll have a ton of sonic options. Alternatively, the disadvantage is that it's digital technology.

Further, if you're just practicing, learning, don't feel like investing or downloading the guitar software illegally (!), you can get an inexpensive guitar amp that'll serve your needs more than adequately. Roland's microcube would do. Again, (what's it called?) the "bajaao" site sells them.

Everyone will have a different opinion about all of it, this is just mine.
