OK guys i have a fender Squier california series S-S-S and a Stranger NS30E,
and my tone sucks literally i think its the amp to be blamed .Is there anyway that this tone problem could be solved , (the guitar seems to be pretty good) other than just throwing my amp out of the window and gettin a new one?
    2nd Ques
my strings have recently rusted a bit so i thought of getting a new set of strings (rather than go to the doctor and get some injections)
I zeroed down to D'Addario electric strings XL anything better than this and the price??

    thanks awaiting reply
    Cheers

If your tone sucks, and you think your amp is to blame, your amp probably IS to blame.

So to answer your question, yes.
You could get an amp emulator pedal thingie and plug it into a PA system (or a keyboard amp since they have a pretty flat freq response)

I've also heard that on some strangers, you can bypass the preamp and use a processor (or a diff preamp) straight into the poweramp section.
That would make your tone improve a LOT!

D'Addario's are nice, but if you're playing a lot and tend to break your strings often, then i'd recommend you go for a cheaper brand of strings.

Then again, i've only just started using D'Addario's so i dont know how much they can take.

You should try em out once and see if you like it.

Ill see if i can trade in my amp for laney or marshall
Anyway can u just tell me the settings u use on ur amp for clean and distortion ?

regarding the strings . I have never broken a string ever in my life :) . I think the D'Addario will suit me or i can try some Ernie Ball's cause i love slash ;) . What gauge should i go for?
Im More into GnR type rock
    Thanks
    Cheers

The Stranger NS30 has some imporved guitar preamps, as they say. But you can still color the tone with pedals and processors, But they'll be expensive. Buy another amp, go for something that suits the squire!

I personally would prefer Roland for squires,
Take your guitar to the store and than check out each personally!!

I have to save up on cash to buy a new amp but i will be going to my guitar shop tom to put in a set of D'Addario strings cause if i play any more on this guitar string ill cut my finger
I have doubts on this amp . if u say that the pre-amp is good that means it should work fine with a good processor fine right?
I need some good amp settings for clean and blues and maybe distortion (just to check if the amp on clean is ok)anyone who can help me here?

I have tried GHS Boomers 10 guage a couple of years back. Bright sounding.. and the brightness lasted pretty long (unlike Ernie-ball slinkys, which dull quickly).
However, I think Slinkys have the best feel because they are very soft/bendable.

Haven't used either of them since then due to lack of availability in local shops. No idea about Dean Markley either..

Dude, strings change the brightness of the notes. Thats pretty much it. Ya, lower gauge strings can let you play much faster. But since Squeir pick ups arent all that powerful. So go for somethin like .009 - .046 . This is a good gauge for dark sounding distortion and easy play

    see..
if u ask me u have a very very basic setup. Starnger amps are good if u have good pedals or good processors in ur setup. I think u can do 2 things.
    1. Either go for a marshall(30w)/laney(30w)/Vox(15w) amp. These amps will definitely change ur tone.
    2. U buy a good processor likea boss GT8/ Boss ME6/zoom 9.2t/..etc.. or u can go for pedal like boss mt-2/ boss DS-1..etc

U can also get ur picks changed in ur guitar as the ones on your guitar are stock pickups and if u ask me are nothing but crap. That will also change ur tone. u can put a seymour duncan SH-6 for good quality distortion.
people invest 1000's of $'s in order to buy the perfect instrument for the perfect tone, i hope u get ur tone 2..
As far as strings are concerned both the companies are equally good. Buy anyone IT DOESNOT MATTER which one u buy, u wont be able to tell the difference.
    cheers......

    Hey
thanks to all of u for taking some timeout and replying to a noob :D
i went last week and put in a D'Addario 9's string set XL . and i could make out the difference right away these sound much brighter compared to the crappy stock strings
@ shetu_ecdw thanks for ur suggestions
my next step would be to go for a processor cause i cant sell this amp to any one and u said that the amp would be good if i get a good processor thinking of digitech RP80 or zoomG2.1u

    Cheers to all
    thanks again

    Go for it dude.

Zoom is a really decent processor in that range.
