Hi, I'm new here, great forums btw. I had begun learning guitar 5 years ago for about a month, then stopped , and started recently again. I've been playing for about a month now, practicing 3 hours everyday. So heres my question. I have a 5 year old giVson acoustic and electric guitar(https://rajmusicals.in/product_info.php?products_id=128) . Ive been practicing on the electric guitar, since i figured if im playing a crappy brand guitar, might as well use the one that sounds better(i could be wrong lol)..Anyways, im self learning, but im making sure i get the techniques correct from this stage itself. I have no frustrations of expecting over night progress. I have about 15k in hand to pickup a new setup, and from what i have looked up, if i had to get an electric guitar, it would be an ibanez grg170dx(for its style of music)-which i would use while im an intermediate player aswell, OR get a good acoustic OR replace strings on my givson or get a better amp(Stranger CUBE20m is my current amp), i dont know which choice to make to be honest. I'm aware that most people make these decisions at a point when they can do scales and chords flawlessly, but if making this decision at this stage wouldnt affect me too much later, i thought i might as well make it now since i have the money to spend. Hoping for some good advice , thanks
stranger20 is not rly bad if u r practising alone... N i'll suggest u to wait fr a while b4 getting a new guitar... givson is crap but will do if u r just a beginner.. Save sum more, u can get the GRG later n a processor as well... It will give u sum more tym to undstand the kind of music u play n select gear accordingly... n all the best... Happy strumming...
Yea slips. I think u should listen to distorted.. very wise advice.. He advised me to do the same.. I know ur craving to get the feel of the effects and stuff. coz no matter wat u do .. u cant sound like "them" with crappy instruments... but you should really get ur hands and head tuned for fluent guitarring.. before throwing in the buck, coz if thats nt done, even wd expensive gear.. u wont sound like ur expecting. and that would rather be a ... 'costly' disappointment wudnt it..? Money saved on a ibanez today, could be worth a les paul tomorrow.. and it wud come at a really good time coz then u;ll be playin it like jimmy page.. juz the way its meant to be played.
@slips: if u r interested in hard rock or metal, an ibanez will do, but u need to save more fr a gud processor... Processor plays a gud role in this genre...
