With 5 grand, and a liiiiiittle bit over it, I think you can manage a good yamaha acoustic... I have even played a pluto which sounded gr8 for arround that mch.. I beg the experts to correct me on this though.. I am a newbie as well.. so I can be wrong. I personally own a Hobmer acoustic, which sounds descent, with a built in pick up, I got it for arround 3 grand I think.. These days there are a lot of granadas arround, but im not sure of their response. It would be helpful if anone would shed some light on that.

i will cut a long story short and tell u dat pluto and granada though sound melodious are not dat great built wise.........da wood used is very hard and problems like fretboard bending occur very frequently and are very difficult counter if your guitar doesn't have a truss rod........

personally i favour a GB&A/Yamaha in your budget.......

but its totally depends on your choice, your style of playing, how comfortable you are with da guitar....i suggest u go to a guitar shop and try out various models till you find da one dat suits you....ofcourse since u are a beginner i suggest u take someone for who knows how to play the guitar for advice..........

well da problem wid gb&a is dat u have check each and every guitar for ne defects.....sumtyms even da higher end models lack a good grain pattern.....so i suggest u take sumone who knws how to play a guitar wid u.......as for da model no. da gb&a i own is now out of production...so m nt aware of ne oder good models.......

    heres the model

gb&a mag-110c... i hav dat.. sounds great.. i tuk my guitar teachr along and he choose dat one among all.. its a jumbo and f cut..
i wud advise that..or go for gb&a pro.. but it wud be a lil bit more expensive..!!

I have a question, since we have a couple of gb&a players in here, I once played a gb&a, and no arguements, the sound was great.. but what I found odd about that was, it was pretty heavy arround its head. Now Im no expert as you guys, but I think that would result into a bit more stress on the neck joint and the bridge of the guitar due to the already existing tension in the strings.. If you could throw some light on that... also, ne suggesitions on a classical nylon string guitar..?

any acoustic guitar needs truss rod fixing after a season changes..............or rather if dere is a change in humidity.......

now as for your query...by head u mean da 'head stock'?????
and if its da head stock how can it be 'heavy'???????

Well a misconception in terms maybe.. by head, what I mean is the place at the top f the neck of the guitar, just above the nut if im not wrong, where the tuning pegs are attached.

And yes I felt it was a quiet a bit heavier on the gb&a that I played, than on my guitar.

Juz wanna know if that is bad of at all it makes any difference.

dude...that is the head stock....and i still dun get hw it can be heavy???

i hve played on a variety of acoustics/electrics/basses.......none of their head stocks were 'heavy'.......

I seriously dont know 'how' it can be heavy, but it certainly was 'heavier' than the one on my guiitar.. ofcourse, I own juz the beginner's bride, a hobmer guitar... but I juz felt the difference and was curious about it.

To srsly gt down to analysis, the tuning pegs, and worm gears might have been made out of a denser metal I guess.. hav srsly no idea....

and thanx for correcting my 'head' to a 'head stock'

If I had 5k for an acoustic guitar, I thnk I'd put in a few hundred more and go for a yamaha... I'd really b happy to put in those extra hundreds than go for anyother guitar.
