    song:vellaipookal
    movie:kannathil muthamittal
    music:ar rahman

    this is a simple song..(also i can't transcribe difficult ones ;) )

    e------------0---------------------------------------|
    b---------4------------------------------------------|
    g------4-----------4---------------4-----------------|
    d---2-----------2-----4/6---4---2-----4/6---4--2----|
    a-------------------------------------------------2--|
    d----------------------------------------------------|

note: play the first 4 notes by holding this chord

e--0--- the point is u have to sustain these 4 notes
    b--4--- for some time
    g--4---
    d--2---
    e------

    e------------0--------------------------------|
    b---------4-----------------------------------|
    g------4-----------4--------------2-----------|
    d---2-----------2-----4/6------2-----4---2---|
    a---------------------------4-----------------|
    d---------------------------------------------|

I play it ina slightly different way (C position capoed 4th fret). I will post that.

Here are chords from my archive.

tabs for intro capoed at 4th fret C position:
    Code:
    capo 4th fret G#------------------------------
     		D#-------0-1----------------------
     		B------0-------0------0----------
     		F#-----------0--2------0---------
     		C#---3------------3-2----3-2-----
     		G#--------------------------0----

    		G#------------------------------
     		D#-------0-1----------------------
     		B------0-------0------0----------
     		F#-----------0--2---3---0---------
     		C#---3------------0-------2-----
     		G#------------------------------

I play E chord in open C position capoed 4th fret behind the arpeggio

I know guitarists who will play this without the capo in the same positions over the 4th fret, but i cannot manage it without the capo. I can only speculate how rahmans guitarist did it, the E chord sound in the original record sounds to be E in the C position, which led me to use the capo.

jay ,thanks for the tabs and mp3..unfortunately i don't have
    a capo right now,so i didnt tried it yet..but heard the mp3..
    it was good...
how did u figured it out "it was an E chord in C possition capoed
on 4th fret" You must be having a golden ear... :nw:
also heard "in the end" mp3 u posted...sounds cool...never knew
harmonics could be this much fun...im downloading the original song
    by LInkin park right now...
    keep up the good work

I must say the guitar tone is the coolest bit tweaking i have ever done on my Korg AX1G. I use a simple mexican fender strat with the pickup selector at postion 1.5 (or 2 these days where u have 5 positions) and i play it un capoed, to get the tone.
i did some post processing to clean some buzz from the pickups..., and EQed my acoustic guitar track, and softened it a lil to give that 'angel' tone thats the only studio magic i did.

You have cool gears man...i wish i had something like that, atlest a decent
elc gtr.I have a givson elec guitar which is the worst of its kind and a
korg AX100G.then i have an imported (sammick) classical gtr which was very
cool when i bought it...but it started to change its tone and the strings
r resonating too much now..now i wonder why i bought it,cos classical is
something which u have to take it very seriously..im tryin to sel it off now..

sorry, i wasnt bragging.. au contraire.. i was trying to say u can achieve this sound with minimal gear.. the mexican strat i bought froma pawn shop for 45$, and the AX1G is the lowest end processor u can get.. (i dont have ax100 or those hifi stomp boxes)

jay being said that,i again looked at my post,mmmm.. ya its kind of
bragging.. ;) but i didn't mean that way.
you are right AX100G is a good processor..but the guitar im
having is no match to that...leave all that..
if u have finished transcibing "sanwariya" please post it...
