hi to all!! i hav downloaded guitar FX version 3.04(latest)...but i really dont know how to use it. my electric guitar is connected to mic in port but i really cant understand how to produce distortion, reverb, flanger etc sounds.
there is a start button on the interface which plays some preset sound on n on. there are buttons for delay increase n decrease, input , output, cpu %, n lot of select boxes on the left like noise gate, distortion plus, EQ, record wav file, playback wav file, delay etc etc. i really dont know wat to do with these. even after plugging my guitar in the mic in i just produce the normal sound. wat do i need to do to produce the effects??? detailed answer wud be appreciated.
also tell me is it that i first hav to record some guitar sound as a wav file n then i can add effects to it?? or can i simultaneously add n hear the effects while i play my guitar which is plugged in to the mic port??
which do u think is the best free effects software that wil satisfy my needs??

I've had very little success with Guitar FX, but liked the little that worked needed some googling around and reading some Wiki or something, in short, found it to be not as intuitive as "Guitar PRO".

However, all said and done, I hope you have a real trailblazer sound-card with ASIO etc., because otherwise, the delay between the INPUT signal and OUTPUT signal is quite noticable, and a rather jarring experience... Guitar PRO is extremely powerful and intuitive, but then its' a monsterous beast compared to Guitar-FX in terms of size and CPU/Memory requirements.

yes, you can add realtime effects to guitar rigs. One other thing you have to do is install asio4all sound driver and have guitarrig setup to use it. It reduces the latency.
There is record tool in guitar rig.

alright here's a detalied way to make fx 3.0 work.......

select a preset from the bottome left corner.......
then if you have your guitar all plugged in and enabled you should be able to hear the effect......if you dont then you have to click on the button next to the effect...if it glows then it means that it is enabled.......
    press F5 for starters........

i bought my greg bennett av3 last weekend n did not buy a processor so i downloaded some (guitar FX BOX 2.7, guitarfx3,revalver mk II,guitar rig) but i get annoying hum no matter what software i use. also the clean sound is so loud that i can barely distinguish between processed and clean sound if i increase the gain then only hum increases n saturates every thing.
plz its my first guitar and dont want to ruin the fun help asap.

mute the line-in in windows volume control. Also download the ASIo4all driver and select it in the softwares.

    1. install Guitar Rig 3, install ASIO4ALL drivers.
    2. open volume control panel, mute line in. unmute mic in. go to advanced settings for mic and uncheck mic boost.
    3. now connect your guitar to the mic in port of the PC (red one)
    4. start Guitar Rig 3 and there will be a noise gate at the top of the rack. just click on the "learn" button and your noise will disappear.
    5. if you still get noise, check your cable and/or the 1/4 to 1/8 converter that you are using

and yeah GR3 is a good software. i used it before i got my procy :)
