Hey fellow IGTians..............m in a really bad situation rite now i need an amp for mid sized venues (my skool auditorium) nd my budget is 10K(mite b able to stretch it but not 2 far)...i first decided 2 buy a marshall MG 30W but wen i read the reviews on ultimateguitar.com i had to change my mind CAN ANY ONE SUGGEST ME A GUD AMP wid gud quality My gear - ESP LTD M100FM Digitech RP50 (i knw it sucks) Dunlop cry baby (wah wah)
A Line 6 spiderIII 30W should cost you around 15 K. A bit expensive, no? But, it is Line6 UK. This should be UK made. Don't have any idea of the quality of the amp models and the effects though.
What exactly are you planning to do live? Are you going to play solo or with band. IF you are playing with a band, will there be a PA in the auditorium?
m guessin its a band coz electrically solo doesnt sound right.........newayz to connect da PA system, it has to reeli good nt lyk da old styled Ahuja............
Yes i have a band nd play we mostly play metal. my job is to provide gud leads for which i need a gud quality amp (pinch harmonics nd stuff..) . my skool, unfortunatly has old(....really old) Ahuja speakers. I did connected my gear to dat system nd sound was simply crap. And one more thing...someone told me buying a gud processor might bring ur amp to life..is dat true???????? thanks in advance P.S - currently own a stranger 20W...has started to sound crappy at high volume
dats true to sum extent.....bt does not apply to amps lyk 'playmte'...or oder such local design cheaper dan stranger.............i say u go for a stranger 60 or 80 or 100......
Stranger are apparently "neutral voiced" so running a nice preocessor through one would give you a pretty good sound. If not, try the Vox Valvetronix series. They're MUCH MUCH better than any MG series or Spider series amp on the market.
The vox does seem like a good option for you situation. But i am not sure how its gonna sound over the drums. It is SS so may sound shrieky at high volume. Maybe you should try a laney. https://www.bajaao.com/laney-hcm-65-guitar-amplifer-with-reverb-p-3895.html?manufacturers_id=72
dun listen to neone......if u reeli knw ur stuff go to da shop try out da various amps wid ur processor on it......pick da one u lyk and den tell us bout ur acquisition..........
I had the 10 watt version of that Laney initially. I can tell you this: Relative to the Vox, the distortion on the Laney SUCKS! And the amp wears out easily. The distortion gets all crackly and fizzy and eventually you'll have to get a pedal. Pedals sound great thru it. Listen to the guy above me and "try out the various amps with your processor on it......pick the one you like and then tell us about your acquisition". He used different words though.
i did went nd tried out diff. amps...but not wid ma processor ...really liked the marshall MG30 but wasnt too shure abt its reliabilty. Well, wat da heck i will go again (in a few weeks)nd check em' out wid my processor (nd tell u guys my opinion)
hi guys i wanna sell my stranger amplifier...80 watts....sufficient for a big auditorium.....bot it for 8000 sum time back...
Most open venues have PA's, in which case either you'll need a wall of Marshall stacks, or you can do with a lower output amp and mic it to the PA. Buy the Vox. From what I've heard, it's got a tube-based preamp stage. So unless you're gonna be pushing the output stage too hard (which won't be the case if oyu mic it), the Vox should sound close to all-tube amps. Btw, if you're mic'ing your amp, the lower the output the better, because you can get to sweeter overdrives without messing the stage volumes and troubling the sound tech with overloading his mics. I'd say invest a bit and go for Vox AD15. Line 6 I've played - Personally, I find them to offer a lot of effects and brick-bracks, but not a good tone. Doesn't rock my boat. Marshalls MGs are the shits, but it again depends on what you're looking for. IMHO, the best (and only) option is to go to a shop, and rock out on a few amps. Try out a few songs from your setlist on each amp, and see how the main rhythms, the leads, outros etc sound on each one of them. I usually find people hooking into one amp and playing SRV, then trying out another and playing EVH. That would not be a true comparison, unless you KNOW that the amp is voiced for a partiular tone. 'nuff said. Stop reading this, go out and rock on!
