    hey guys,
i am looking for a distortion pedal that will give me distortion like metallica. ah i know that metallica use amp distortion and i have no money to buy that kinda amp :p my Marshall MG15CDR is enough for me. but the distortion on it is kinda disturbing.
metallica songs sound weird with it.
so can you please help me selecting a distortion pedal that will give me distortion close to metallica's? well the budget is not much. and i don't want to buy a procy.

also, can anyone tell me a good so called 0 (low) noise cables? the cable that came with my guitar is crap.

    thanks :)

i think you should go in for a boss mt-2 costs around 5k. However if you can afford it then AMT metallizer and Boss ML-2 are great choices..Price around 6.5k

kinda confused between MT-2, ML-2 and AMT Metalizer

which one of these will give me the closest possible metallica distortion? and my maximum budget is 6k. can anyone tell me where can i find these cheapest in mumbai?

basically i want a pedal that can produce most metallica songs. the main ones are master of puppets, enter sandman, sad but true, one, etc.
if that distortion pedal can produce very less number songs, i better get a normal distortion pedal to play a variety of songs. what do you say? but basically i am a metal fan.

can you recommend me any other distortion pedal? coz i don't think spending 6.5k just to play a few metallica songs is right

    the amt is the best
you could get the older metallica sounds with it.
But it is not so good with the newer more tighter sounds.

Then get the Boss MT2. Will suit you for most heavy stuff. You can fiddle around with the controls to get some variety in what sound you extract.

Alternately you could also check out the 'Digitech XMM Metal Master' or the 'Digitech Distortion Factory'. Good pedals, good range.

so what do you say? buy the AMT for a few metallica songs or get some other distortion pedal that is suitable for many other styles and songs?

does the Boss MT-2 sound good with solid state amps? coz i have Marshall MG15CDR the basic 15w amp. and i read somewhere in IGT that MT-2 sounds good only on a tube amp.

also, can you give me an idea of the price of the digitech pedals that you mentioned?

The Digitech XMM Metal Master is about 5K, and the Distortion Factory is 6.3K on bajaao.com.

About the MT2 working on solid state amps, I am not very sure how it pans out versus tube amps. I can say one thing though, with the MG15 (or any small amp for that matter), you won't be getting a sound that exactly like Metallica. It would only be a matter of how close you can get. Fiddling around the controls to get closest is your best bet (only bet perhaps), whatever the pedal be.

Dude, all these pedals will ultiamately give you only one particular tone.

You need to decide whihc one suits you best to play wider variety.
I have heard ppl playing Smoke on the Water with a metal tone, and they manage to pull off pretty well.

If versatility is what you are looking for - then get hold of a digital processor. I guess for around 5-6 K you may get a decent 2nd hand one.

PS: Metallizer is not for "Metallica" tone.

It gives you a tone suitable for metal music. Distorted and dense.
MT-2 has got pretty noisy distortion. And little on thinner side.

The parametric mids control is good academically. However, in real life all you would manage from that is a good "quacky" tone.

BTW have you checked out the Metallizer tone from the website?
and compare it to MT-2, distortion factory etc.

    Listen and then decide.

then i should better go for a more versatile pedal suitable for many types. coz spending 5-6k only for metal tone is not worth it and i am not a total metalhead :p

anyways, can anyone tell me a place in mumbai where i can get this kind of stuff? that too cheaper than bajaao.com?

also, can i convert this thread into my doubt solving thread? coz i have lots and lots of doubts and making new thread every time will be kinda spamming type and flood the forums
