hi all. been hearing the song sunn raha hai na tu from aashiqui 2. first of all i think its a pretty awesome composition. the composer has really done a grt job especially with the solos and the rhythmically strong chorus, backed by a powerful bass. i have been trying to play the song and while i feel the song has a definite chord progression which is easy to lay down, the solos and the fills are what i find tremendously hard to decipher. i use an Ibanez ART 100 with an Ibanez amp with some pretty cool effects...i know the solos in the song are played mostly on the electric sitar or zitar...but still it feels too difficult to perform these on the guitar.
the Cm scale has been used very beautifully i should say. the solo i feel is a typical C minor blues. when he plays the main solo in the song he starts with an electric guitar with heavy crunch distortion and compressor effect. i guess he starts with the F note, bends it to a G n then the passage and ends it on C. and just while the C note on the electric guitar is ringing and fading out, the electric sitar's sympathetic strings pick up the C note in resonance and he plays the remaining solo, which i feel there is no way an electric guitar can mimick that.
at the start when the singer sings the first chorus, right after "kyu ro raha hu mai", the sitar performs a bend to an interval that i, as a guitarist, hadnt even heard in my life, let alone play it.
anyone who can play these solos and riffs with the same justice as the original?? sometimes i wonder maybe they used electronically generated sounds in the song?? but i have seen zitar players like the great great Niladri Kumar. so how to play these killer tunes?? and what level of learning it requires?? and who is the guitarist/sitarist in the original song??
