Everythings going beta nowadays, isn't it?Originally Posted by Winzip PublishingWinZip 10.0 includes major usability enhancements, improved compression technology and, is now available in a Standard and a Professional version.
Both the Standard and Professional versions of WinZip 10.0 offer new compression technology that allows you to make even smaller Zip files. Both versions also include a new Explorer-style view of your Zip files, making it much easier to work with large, multi-folder archives. Other enhancements include the ability to create split (multi-volume) Zip files during compression, automatic update checking, and support for the Windows XP SP2 Attachment Manager, which helps you protect your computer by warning you of files that might be dangerous to open.
WinZip 10.0 Pro features the WinZip Job Wizard, a completely new and powerful productivity and automation tool. The WinZip Job Wizard allows you to create Zip "jobs" that identify the "what, where, when, and how" of virtually any repetitive zipping task. Once you've created a job, you can run it as easily as double-clicking an icon on your desktop, or you can schedule it to run automatically.
You can use WinZip jobs for daily data backups, periodic reporting, off-site storage, and anything else that you do repetitively. You can even move your valuable data off site by using the included FTP functionality.
WinZip 10.0 Pro also allows you to create Zip files directly on CDs, eliminating the need to zip to your hard disk and then transfer the Zip files to CD. Large Zip files will automatically span multiple CDs, if necessary.
The official release of WinZip 10.0 is scheduled for later this year. If you buy WinZip 9.0 now, you will get WinZip 10.0 Standard free. Once released, the Standard version of WinZip 10.0 will cost $29.95, WinZip 10.0 Pro will be $49.95. Existing registered single-users will be able to upgrade to WinZip 10.0 Standard for only $14.95 and to WinZip 10.0 Pro for only $24.95. Proof of purchase will be required. Attractive multi-user license pricing is available.
