How to write poetry
(I am myself crazy enough to say any thing but I will try)
Have seen many ppl here on the forum writing they don’t know what poetry is or have problems with their language and so on..So this one to is to tell them some thing that if u have a "new, nice, different, compelling, beautiful, problematic,
pragmatic, predicament, humorous, funny, extremely lethargic or fanatically
laughable" situation, thought or event that u can not contain in ur self write it
express it and that would be literary, will be poetic.
Now how do i think this can be expressed....ammm haan thik hai...See when a million pages of text r written to describe a situation stand-straight and firm like a MAN, simply go and ask what is ur name ? haha the MAN's name is poetry...and here it comes to help me
In my own lines
i am just a poet who just needs a pen,
some nice thoughts to write,& rhymes that should blen~nd
i observe i don’t just say, in most amusing way
thoughts sleeps-calm, when poems End !
i am just a poet who doesn’t needs a pen,
some nice thoughts to write, or rhymes that should blen~nd
what i feel i just say, in my clumsy way
the poetry starts, when poems End !!
both the categories r good enough to be in... i try to belong the second one.
i think all people who write have these 2 sides now u know u have to choose where to go.....choice is important because if don’t then u have to create ur own road....
Now, what to write ?
i believe one must not write for a person place or thing ....write for what u feel about them, what the person place or thing feels about them.....In Indian context i believe we all r going to hear a lot of daisy rock (jaal, strings, shankar essan loy annu malik still needs time) beacause we are alredy following that pattern which was very prevalent in mid 1960s in america. Urdu is a very romantic language and English doesn’t covers the diversity so i believe hindi will be the best language to go with, sooner or later people will start writing about national and international issues or u can say that will be the focus ....we will go this way ....
So we have discussed object and objectivity now lets see the nuts and bolts
At first start with lines which can rhyme and try to fit ur idea in it, later say a couple of poems, u will be so confidant that these words will come to u with ease and all u need is just a good thought...........
for a good poem like all other literary forms; don’t let ur reader know where u r goanna land ....so either take a very curvaceous path (ornamental...read Milton) and reach ur idea or reach straight but oblique way ( like storys of O.Henry)...both work well but even in ur initial try be crystal clear about the point where u touch the ground....how i think about poets is most had a lot of stuff in their life its-self for eg...................
eg1 (oblique way)
I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us -- don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.
How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!
what a name imli(hindi) **** son ....ok leave it
eg 2 round-round way...
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
and sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
and looked down one as far as I could
to where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
and having perhaps the better claim
because it was grassy and wanted wear;
though as for that, the passing there
had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
in leaves no feet had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less travelled by,
and that has made all the difference
Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822)
Percy Bysshe Shelley was born in Horsham, Sus*** the son of a Whig landowner. He as educated at Eton and Oxford, from which he was sent down in 1811 for writing a pamphlet on atheism. This, together with his elopement with and marriage to the sixteen year-old Harriet Westbrook in the same year, caused an irreparable breach with his family.
Shelley later abandoned Harriet for Mary Wollstonecraft, whom he married after Harriet's *******. Shelley's latter years were spent in the company of other literary and political exiles in Italy, where he enjoyed a greater freedom to express his revolutionary ideas. He drowned at sea in the Bay of Spezia.
Shelley is without doubt one of the great Romantic poets who, in spite of his turbulent and colorful life, produced works which are full of passion, creative energy, and lyrical beauty.
I DONT SAY MAKE UR LIFE Pathetic...but observe things form different angles u will find something in all simple situations and put them in most simple words u have around u...
and i tell u a secret u read something , u like it, don’t copy and paste it with ur name on the form....just say ones to the poet, nothing man i can put this idea in another way and 4 my sake think how can u do so ....it works every time i do it...
never respect any thing too much it only makes u slave
will continue about Hindi English and Urdu literature with some good examples i know a great Hindi poet( Padam shree:- Gopal das Neeraj) says
aadami ko, aadami, bana ne ke liye
iss zindagi main, pyaar ki, kahani chahiyee
aur iss, kahani ko, likhne ke liye
syaahi nahi, aankoo vala, paani chahiyee...(look so simple and simply great)
I am not good with words nor with anything else in my life, so don’t read words nor me but see things around u simple, innocent, clumsy, silent, dirty uselessly-happy thing, what ever makes u think, write it on a paper and post here …
any one reading this is invited to add his/her thoughts....
