    Days That Were

Here's a recent song of mine I wrote. Hope you mates like it.
I also tried a minor composition and recorded it. Here's the Audio:
    Days That Were

Sometimes I long for days that were
Filled with simple things we used to do
Staying up at night, singing with glee
Songs that taught us all a thing or two

Granny would play her old violin
Mama, she sure could keep a beat
While us kids clapped to the tune
To that melody, oh so sweet

Growing up in old familiar lanes
Oh, through the seasons Ė without a care
Sometimes I look back and feel so strange
May be Iím just a child still living there

Friends, I had a few Iíd call my own
But now itís all a faded memory
Lost in photographs from long ago
If it were mine, I know just where Iíd be

Back in those old familiar lanes
Searching for the faces from my past
May be sing a song that I once knew
Thatís the place where dreams forever last

So I sit, oh wishing all the while
For the days that were and will be
A part of my very heart and soul
Oh, my friend, a part of you and me
Those were the days, yes they were.

The last puff of the day-wind brought from the unseen villages the scent of damp wood-smoke, hot cakes, dripping undergrowth, and rotting pine- cones. That is the true smell of the Himalayas, and if once it creeps into the blood of a man, that man will at the last, forgetting all else, return to the hills to die.

-Other side of the Horizon- you wouldnt wanna be there..
    quite a pleasant poem
good to hear it in your voice
    sounds great with music..
    gives me a retro feel
    awesome whistling man!
    its perfect..could make anyone "rewind"!

pssst ..for those who havent heard the song..give it a listen

Thus drifting afar to the dim-vaulted caves
Where life and its ventures are laid,
The dreamers who gaze while we battle the waves
    May see us in sunshine or shade;
Yet true to our course, though the shadows grow dark,
We'll trim our broad sail as before,
And stand by the rudder that governs the bark,
Nor ask how we look from the shore!
