The 7 Modes of the Harmonic Minor Scale

"Scales" are a series of intervals in order where the first tone (tonic) defines them.
"Modes" are "scales" using only the seven specific tones of the scale without chromatic alterations
The mode names, in order, are:
Harmonic Minor, Locrian Sharp 6, Ionian Sharp 5, Dorian Sharp 4, Phrygian Dominant, Lydian Sharp 2, and Super Locrian bb7

The Phrygian Dominant scale is actually, a mode of the harmonic minor scale the fifth mode of the harmonic minor scale.
So, the D phrygian dominant scale actually has the same notes as a G harmonic minor scale as in the example:
G Harmonic Minor scale : G – A – Bb – C – D – Eb – F# - G

Hitzaz is extremely common in particularly Arabic and Egyptian music.
It is called Hijaz when used in Greek, Turkish, Arab music.
It is also known as Freygish when used in Hebrew Prayers or as
a Spanish Phrygian scale, Spanish gypsy scale or Phrygian major scale when used in Flamenco music.
