guitar and looks ..some connection ?

well here is something strange ..that i have been noticing ..
why is it that good looking guys holding a guitar ( maybe not playing that well ) are considered to be ooo so hot .. i mean girls go gaga over a smart hunk holding a guitar ..even when he's trying to hold a D major on the 8th fret!
and some one pretty decent..not soo cool looking though .. playing o- so -freaking -awesomely is ignored ?

it might not be true ..but i notice it!! seriously!

The converse is equally true. It's human nature. The guitar is just a rationalization to try and prove to yourself that you're not shallow and are interested in something beyond the look of the person you're going ga-ga over.

Those girls go gaga over such guys who are really stupid and have no sense of music!!!

like justin bieber, taylor swift etc
so girls go gaga over them
and even sum1 who wud playing john petrucci's glasgow kiss would be neglected coz girls dont understand music
it just vocals for them(only those who dont play an instrument and no offense)

It has more to do with the image of guitarists in people's minds, especially youngsters. I mean the way they are portrayed in movies and other places creates that impression. They have a stereotype in their mind and if they see someone fit that stereotype they immediately assume that he is all those things they have seen or read about. I mean think about Slash, he isnt the most technically sound guitarist nor is he a virtuoso but still his music appeals to the people, his theatrics both on stage and off stage appeal to the people, they want to have a lifestyle like him because of the inflated, glamorous picture portrayed. They see the fame, the money the lifestyle. And look at Joe Satriani, girls(the ones no way related to playing guitar) dont even know him. Dont go gaga over him.

The majority of the people listen to music for entertainment. And mainstream masses like music that they can relate to, can hum or sing. Purists are a small fraction of those. I mean they want things they can talk about, gossip about. And as for the girls going gaga thing it is only natural because being ultimately we are animals and hunks appeal to their instincts and plus add the general image of a guitarist it only makes them more alpha. I say look at youtube good looking, heck leave good looking even a girl playing something on guitar gets so much praise even when they play average but guys playing the same gets negative comments.

Hey nandy we are talking about girls in general. You being a guitarist know what effort goes into playing and have a ear for good music and automatically appreciate good playing. But talking about audience in general i'm sad to stay stage image goes a long way. Playing simple but catchy tunes gets more appreciation. Some theatrics also help, and being good looking doesnt hurt either and its not just girls but public in general.

i am in for fast shredding solos ..
but ..i think girls would like it..i mean girls are into death metal too..even if they don't play or anything..
i mean look at the number of girls in Metallica's concert!
chalo ..chuck Metallica .. i mean generlly ..they ARE impressed..and tlking about "baby" ..i am yet to figure out why people are crazy bout it

I dont think half the girls at the concert gave half a shit about WHAT metallica play. They were just there because it is cool. The atmosphere is electric, they get to be in a concert like they see on the TV with the multicoloured lights and works, plus they can brag the next four years that i was at metallica concert. This is what i can gather from girls around me. I mean quoting from personal experience, I play Nothing Else matters and other dudes play some hindi songs with the standard G-D-Amin-C progressions they get loads of limelight. I learnt from it and played songs from Rock On a few days back at my college and then there are tons of girls lining up to give me blowjobs(I keed) but yeah you get the point.
