Pedals usually have only a single effect and are analog. They are better sounding but expensive -- just one reverb unit would cost you upward of 3000. Processors are digital and has a lot of effects in one unit. You can get them for as low as 4000 Rs.

What kinds of effects are you looking to get. If its distortion, i don't think you can get a decent sound without a proper electric guitar. If you need it just for reverb, Chorus etc. I don't see a problem with it. Just buy a low end one and play around with the effects. Later on you can move on to better effects -- processors or pedals.
