Thanks all !!!! Thanks Souman !!!! But according to me everybody is good, but what people lack is...CONFIDENCE..!!

I have had around 50 students learned/learning guitar from me..and all of them are able to play (well most of them atleast 99% !!!!!!!) on stage within a year..thats not bcoz of me..but bcoz they have the confidence to play and larn in a proper way....One of my student BABAI (Prasanta)...also a member of IGT.... is the best out of the lot..even he can play some RUN on guitar which i cant !!! It's amazing how quickly he learned this instrument..its not only that he has got god-gifted talent...but its only bcoz he has got confidence and the dedication to learn & play!!

Some little tricks that people miss out as I have seen thru these teaching years is the "Learning of Scales" properly...for say give me examples to you guys...

    1) How many can you tune your guitar to "Nashville Tuning" without the help of your teacher?

    2) How many can you play the exact notes (and I mean Exact!!!!) notes of Neele Neele Ambar by Kishore Kumar?

    3) How many of you can tell me whats the last chord of the All time hit song TIME by PINK FLOYD ?

    ......... -9
    Its Bm7 !!!!!!!!!!

So I have told you the last chord of TIME.....but how to play it ?

it is ..... x 2 3 2 1 0.....But how to find it when teacher is not available ? This is what I'm talking about...

Everybody seem to become David Gilmore/Slash/Hendrix/Satriani..Steve Vai in 1 day...well pal thats not possible...some of my students wants to play "Chehra hai ya chand khila"...from Saagar or "Neele Neele ambar" in a month..i cant let make understand that Yes u can do it someday..but that will need tremendous amount of dedication from u..that hurts them and they leave my class....

So i beg to all my fellow IGTians that plz dedicate more time to your instrument...and definately u will get the result...!!!

    With Warm Regards,
    Arindam Ray ( Bappada).

    hi arindam,
when you say that this instrument needs lots of practice and dedication, you are 100% true.
i am also a teacher and i also have students like you.
i have my guitar coaching institute here as well.
students generally have very high expectations and they want to learn guns 'n' roses at the first go.
i have told them a lot of times that learning songs directly without having any knowledge of scales and all is a blunder they are committing.
they will never get the theory right and won't understand why a chord is used instead of another one.
and one more thing about neele neele ambar's interludes and preludes, they are one of the best pieces on guitar ever rendered in indian music by RD Burman.
i have worked out the actual piece way back and have played it on several stage shows.
i have checked your version and post ,my friend if you are willing to accept it then i must say that your tabs are not 100% correct.
the interlude is not correct and you have missed out the chords that are used in between like Dsus4 which reduces it's effectiveness a bit.

anyway bhai onek kotha holo, kichu mone korona jodi kichhu bhool kotha bole thakle.
i am saying again that you are among the best, take care.

    your friend,

    Some Theory about Chords....

    Open position chords

    C D E F G A etc...

    Dmin Emin Amin Fmin

    G major G minor C major C minor

Now, a minor chord is based the same way as a major with one exception
    major I III V
    minor I bIII V

Major scale = I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII
Minor scale = I, II, bIII, IV, V, bVI, bVII

C, E, G and make it a C minor all you have to do is flat the third.
C, Eb, G and there's your minor chord, it's really easy once you get the
hang of major - minor relationships.
    ************************************************** *************************

Ok, now onto triads. A triad is just three notes I, III, and V major triad. tri-three, three notes. For now, I'm only going to get into major and minor because I don't want to confuse the issue.

Dmaj D#maj Gmaj Dmin F#min Bmin

For the first chord, Dmaj, when using it in open position, you would play the open D for the 'root' note. Well, with these triads, the root note isn't on top.

In this chord, you're playing the C (root) note twice, sometimes, especially with two guitarists, or a keyboard player, it sound muddy, if you take off the bottom root note,

You have this, less bass doesn't sound as muddy and you can play around more with it. And it's still a Cmaj chord.

    The Key of Cmajor

C Dmin or Emin Fmaj Gmaj Amin

Something else you can do is invert the chords. I.e. using a different bass note, playing a chord that way, makes it more interesting. And it doesn't really sound like a generic chord anymore.

An A major chord with a C# in the bass. A, C#, E is an A major Triad but by putting a C# instead of the open A gives it a different flavor. Especially when the bassist is playing A under the chord, it sounds cool.

    A/C# D/E etc...

Melodization of triads is accomplished by replacing the top note of a triad (the root, 3rd or 5th depending on the inversion) with a higher degree of the scale from which the chord is formed. These notes (other than 1, 3 or 5) are referred to as tension notes, tensions or high degrees.

General Rule: A melodic tension replaces the 1st triadic tone directly below it in pitch. (usually found on the same string).

    In plain english..

Ok, now this is a Cmajor triad, but replacing the open G with an A. this is replacing the 1st triadic tone (G) with (A) C, E, G is now C, E A. Kinda cool huh? None of this is law, this sorta stuff has to sound good to you. Some of this might sound bad to you, but, I might like it, it's personal preference.

    Now for some more.

Sus chords: (suspended) Which is I, IV, V. John Petrucci, from Dream Theater, uses these chords often. They sound good and when you can't figure out major or minor chord to use a sus chord works great usually.

    Asus F#sus Fsus Csus

I'm sure you all know about power chords i.e. root & fifth
