Guitar: Electric or Acoustic?

Hi every one..
This is IbanezIsawesome

I used to play guitar a few months back
It was a f-hole guitar bt i cudn't continue learning after 2 months
As my guitar's bridge got damaged when it fell from my bro's hand. :(
When being optimistic i must say it did a bit of good to me
As i did not even have a bit of interest in classical or folk styles
I love rock n metal
So i plan on buying an ibanez GRG170DX n want to learn electric guitar..
So i wantes to ask whether or not it is possible to learn electric guitar without much prior acoustic playing experience n if so
I also want to know whether there are teachers who teach electric guitar to students without any prior acoustic playing experience..
I'm from KOLKATA
Help will be greatly appreciated

you need to play acoustic guitar to improve your fingering.

...electric guitars are easier to play than acoustic guitars...

He used to teach absolute beginners before but does not anymore. He also teaches on an acoustic usually. I'd recommend Rishabh Ray or Vikramjeet Banerjee as teachers...I think they teach beginners and are great guitarists. Rishabh I know has learnt from Amyt for some time.

and while it's possible to learn on electric, I would always recommend starting on an acoustic. I don't think there's any rule to it though.

Which one would be better to buy
A fender stratocaster or an ibanez GRG170DX??
Or any other guitar
I just want three pickups n a whammy bar

If you plan on using the whammy bar like Steve Vai - then you NEED to go for locking nut and floating bridge.
Unfortunately the user reviews on GRG series is not very great.

The last time I took it for a trial - I didn't play with whammy - however with regards to pick-ups they sounded weak. (But this was 4-5 years back).
Now I think you are talking about Squier stratocaster. Fender will be orders of magnitude more expensive.

The Squier (again 5-6 years back), had some issues keeping in tune. But it sounded "better" to me. Perhaps because of its single coil, and my partiality to single coil tone.

You would want a humbuck though, for the kind of music you like.

But seriously though, if you wish to learn guitar and music: GET ACOUSTIC. That way you won't be fidgeting with non-productive stuff like tweaking the tone and playing with pedals the whole day. You will pay attention to learning some skills.

Besides, who told you that acoustic is for classical and electric is for rock?

Looks like you never heard acoustic rock or unplugged concerts ...
And neither you heard any neo-classical stuff on electric.

but yes the true reason i want an electric is i never liked the feel of the acoustic or neither did i like to sit n practice with it!
but that never happens when i'm playing my synth etc
so thats basically why i wanna opt for an electric :D

Thats weird. Coz if that is the case u wud end up wasting ur money on electric as well...Give it a try and see..And plz buy a good guitar so that it will be easy for you to sell it later on.
