Be wary of your pain - Guitar girl. Have you heard of a little something called warm up?
This goes out to all the readers, or at least those who care to read. Several guitarists have been hit with tendonitis, carpal tunnel, rotator cuff (believe it!) problems and the like. Initially the enthusiasm is sky high and we play like there's no tomorrow. Who cares if it hurts? After all we have ample reason to believe we'd be the next Hendrix in under 2 days. Then suddenly there's that crippling pain and we have to lay our guitar in Hendrix's coffin.
Prevention is better than cure. Learn to warm up thoroughly. A mug of warm water takes care of everything. Wash your hands, elbow down, thoroughly with lukewarm water. This gets the blood flowing and reduces risk. Stretch your fingers and forearms and loosen them up. Relax your shoulders too. It'd work real wonders in the long run.
