Hey, there were a couple of things I wanted to find out about IGT. You may withhold whatever information you want to and if possible, answer a few of my questions. Also, there's more than just one question so I hope you wont lock the thread.
I was wondering how IGT is doing financially? Does it bring in enough to make the site worth it?
Also, is the value of a site connected to the size of its membership in a major way? Or is it the activity that the site has which is a deciding factor?
I assume that what you say about neo having sold the site off is true and then speculate. A few months before the change became apparent, there was this huge culling where a lot of the major posters/contributors to IGT were banned which brought activity nearly to a standstill (perhaps a little less than it is now?). At that point I couldn't think of a reason as to why. The reason then given by neo was that the bandwidth(is that the correct term?) used by the spammers (not the correct term really but) made bills hit the roof and so they had to be eliminated. In retrospect, perhaps he was making the site more sellable by reducing the space consumed by the forums? So, on paper, the site would look like it had a massive user base, did not consume much bandwidth and was rather professional?
Is this how a deal works? If not, what do you look at when you take over a site (As I'm assuming you did here)?
Yes, I'm genuinely interested in knowing so anything that you can tell me would be appreciated. If the financial aspect is not particularly classified but you still couldn't tell me publicly, perhaps a PM would work.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
and surely I’ll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
